2 LiPolys with Geared N20?
So, I can't fork out the $$ for the RFFS right now, but I'd really like to try something smaller. I'd like to go to an N20 geared and two LiPoly 140's (From Bob Selman) with the Feather, Jeti 040, and 2 stripped CS-10s. What I'd really like to try is the Herr 18" Cub http://www.iflyherr.com/k201.html
I don't think 1 LiPoly would be enough juice for my Servos/Rec. Can anyone tell me if this sounds like a feasible setup? I need a new toy... |

I have a Punkin bipe made from Dave Robelen's RC Microflight plans. See my Punkin Page. It has always been on the heavy side at 54.5 grams with 4 NiCds or NiMHs and can barely maintain altitude. So, next Saturday it gets a 2-cell LiP pack. This will save about 6 grams and boost power to the equivalent of 7 cells. Currently it has the N20-LV. Since replacing it with the HV version will require surgery on the plane, I'll fly it till the motor fries. The rest of the equipment is the Sky Hooks integrated receiver/ESC and Wes 3.0 servos. I hope these light batteries will save a failed plane that was built heavier than master builder Dave can.
BTW, I soldered up a JST harness that allows two of the LiP cells to be plugged into it making them wired in series. This weighs little and allows the best of both worlds where the same cells can also be used individually for other applications. I'll let you know how it goes. |
