FAA will shoot down drones near superbowl!!!!

http://www.digitaltrends.com/cool-te...per-bowl-2016/
This is a little excessive. 36 miles, I could understand at the stadium but not 36 miles. What do you guys think

I think they have few alternatives.....Anyone can drive a block away from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, pull out a race drone...with a plastic explosive devise...and be a hero...just as Kim Jong Un believes himself to be!

36 miles? How dramatic... damn those backyard drones flying all the way to the superbowl stadium, right?

Point being...they, Secret Service, State department, HomeLand security, are confronted with 'UNCONTROLLABLE POSSIBILITIES'....is now the reason why UAS FAA registration...after that...they have no control. Have YOU registered yet? I have.

Yes, I have registered. I'm not sure what you're getting at, do you think this is excessive or not?

I don't think that many drones could travel 36 miles, unless they are military drones

I think they should build man carrying multi rotors to protect the pubic.they would easily be able to blow down any smaller aircraft.

Definitely not. Even some of the top-notch long-range FPVers with hobby grade crap can at MAXIMUM travel out 8 miles in the best of conditions . If many of the popular RTFs had a fly-away at top speed (35-45mph), the batteries wouldn't last very long, either and it would be down quick.

ShaZamm, your post got messed up.

I'm more interested in who's getting 36 miles out of their "drone". That's one hell of a setup.

Someone should start a million drone march during the superbowl to protest said regulations.

Lol, I'm imagining a flock of DJI Phantoms, Chromas, and hexacopters swooping the superbowl. It would make history. Aaaaaaaand then the entire hobby would be banned.

Long range is easy for a controller like the Pixhawk. You program in the course, get it in the air and off it goes. It does not need to communicate with you after it gets into the air. It does not need RC input to fly it's mission. Going 36 miles one way is not hard at all. with simple off the shelf parts. It's about $500 in parts to do that.

I think they are being silly. They closed the airspace days ago. It's closed to all general aviation.

There is nothing at the Superbowl that I would waste my time on. There is more to look at in so many other places. Just my 2 cents. But the 36 miles it stupid crazy but look where its at enough said.
