First event for us at TCMAA today turned out fantastic! We had 11 flyers come out and enjoyed one of the best 'weather' days in weeks (maybe months). Fog in the morning burned off around 11 and we got 6 rounds in before calling it quits. Congrats go out to the top three;
Tom Gallagher in 1st - home-built pod/boom / Pulsar wing
Mark Anderson in 2nd - Home-built Supra
Dennis Richards in 3rd - Polecat Oracle.
And thanks to all the guys who helped with the event (setting up course, bringing food, timing for flyers, hauling trash, etc.).

Glad you guys had fun but I am so jealous, snow last night, ice fog this morning but then the sun came out and it was nice but only just above freezing. We have had snow on the ground since before thanksgiving!

I still can't believe Dennis's throw out round (his worst round!) was a 1035, and he only placed third. I had more 1000 pts rounds than ever before and placed last. We had some great flying. Great start to the year!

The March TCMAA event will have to re-scheduled. I will post the update here as soon as we know what date we are going to use. (the date we had scheduled is actually Easter and that will be a no-go with nearly every wife in the club)

TCMAA is trying to catch up on the contests that we've had rained out..

The February Ales contest will be held at the club field this coming Saturday March 19..

And... the March contest is being moved FROM Sunday March 27 TO Saturday March 26.

For both events, the schedule will be;
Field opens around 0800 for testing and signups
Signups close at 1000
Pilots' mtg and flying begin as quickly as the scorecards can be printed.

See ya at the field.

Yesterday's (February !!) TCMAA contest is finally in the books. 13 flyers came out to fly and were treated to a near-perfect day of soaring. Calm winds, great lift in the morning, challenging conditions in the afternoon, a hot lunch, and a bunch of good friends all came together for a terrific contest.
Mark Anderson won the day... followed by ;
Thom Martin
John Ellingson
Jim Pugh
Sandie Pugh
Tom Brinkley

Our March event is set for next Saturday (Wow, 2 Ales events in consecutive weeks).
See ya at the field.

Uh oh. Thom is getting the hang of flying his Xplorer. It does take a slightly different way of flying than you may be used to. But once you get it - watch out!

Hmm, if you say so: http://www.amazon.com/How-Read-Air-D.../dp/1594485399

In the meantime I will watch Joe Wurts video and learn his Third Vector, all linked at Tailwind Glidess Tips page.

Ha ha!

Wow. After reading the reviews for that book, I am not sure it's going to help - even if it is a "beautifully layered - contrasting truth and reality" sort of a book.

I think I will stick with JW's stuff. A lot less gooey.
