Hi,

I intend to get back into flying after a break and want to start with a foamie sloper. I guess things have changed a bit since my PMP Stiletto and I just wondered what the consensus is on the best epp foam glider kit of the moment is ? Criteria are that is must be fassst and must also be gettable in the UK without too much trouble or extra cost.

steve- I love both the bee, and weasel but not sure I'd classigy either one as "fassst". Bee's DS pretty well and combat great, Weasel's are great for acrobatic in you face hilarity.

I'd suggest looking at some of the NCFM offerings, Raven's, Moth's, M60's etc. for fast front side as well as DS'ng (don't combat well).

If I could only have one foamie slope plane, and never intended to combat or DS it, it'd have
to be the NCFM Moth. It's quick and nimble when flown without ballast, and downright fast
with a full load of ballast. I prefer it over the M60.
Can't speak to the trouble of shipping to the UK.

I also like the Moth/M60. I prefer the larger M60 for most flying. It is especially fun unballasted in moderate air and in slermal conditions. She is so efficient! She is also a blast in stronger conditions, fully ballasted. My main problem with the M60 is that when fully ballasted she can be hard to slow down for landing (on my slopes). As result suffers damage on my poor (rocky) LZ's. This would be a non issue on a nice grassy, rotor-free LZ. The smaller Moth (48" WS) seems better a surviving crashes.

+1 for M60. Super good flying foamie. One thing no-one ever mentions about NCFM planes (or FSD and OTE) is that the foam they use is really good. It seems stiffer and the beads smaller than other makers' models, doesn't chunk out as easily and it returns to it's original shape with a hot iron a LOT better than other foamies I've built/had. Mine's just losing "mouldie status" after 3 years, but I have a new one in the build queue. Looks like T9 keeps NCFM models in stock in UK.

Matin would never forgive me if I didn't vote for a Moth , But if some ones been out of the hobby for awhile they would not be up on all the current EPP techniques . So I submit to stick to what others flying in your area , hence my suggestion of the Wildthing which is a local UK model and well thought of , plus you have the added benefit of local knowledge and support . Then once you have got your flying fingers back in shape forget the moth forget the M60 just lash out and go a Ubermoth or a Raven just my 1& 1/12 cents

For me, M60. Also loved my original Bee. Both planes do everything well (except combat for the M60).

+1 for the Moth. The only foamie I've seen that flies as fast and nimble as a glass airplane. Huge wind range when ballasted as well.

One more for the M60. Does everything well. Make sure you build it with a ballast tube.

No complaints about the Moth either.

i have a M60 nib kit with NCFM balast set and im in the UK £100+post if i cant send via f3f list. T9 sell them for £109 kit only think the balast set was £25+

Considering that you appear to be UK based, I'd suggest the SAS products (link in post#2). Why? Well, they fly very well and you'd be supporting a small, UK business. BTW, I have no affiliation with them other than having owned (and enjoyed) one of their designs; a Cygnus.
