See you painted the prop. A friend uses paint to balance the prop. Works good!

Those wheels are about 65 grams a piece can you tell any differance in the way it flys or does it feel the same ? I might have to dust out the cob webs in my wallet and buy a set. joe

Mine still flys great, haven't flown it for ages, infact stole the 1100kv 3s motor from it for another plane. Only had a 750kv to replace so went to 4s 12x6, worked great. Awesome vertical climb and unbelievable vertical landings! What a great plane. Had a nice breeze to work into last night, love see it get sidways on approach.

I added the links on the wheel photos for the wheels and tailgear...I made the main gear useing the stock gear and fabricated the rest...somewhere in this thread is a how to pic tutorial.

lo I sometimes do that also...the prop paint is old now and pretty nicked up due to grass landings...I added them because I needed some COLOR on my plane

Well..the tail wheel is 100% better..the main are a tad bit more weight..BUT since i have plenty of power...it really dosent seem to make any flight difference....BUT the pavement likes the rubber MUCH better...these are low bounce wheels...and it actually dampens out the landings...and IS alot quieter...I Like them...but will still keep my foam 1's ...nothing will ever be lighter than they are

The New tires are a keeper for my taste and 64 grams for 4" rubber/alum. hubs...is really not very much...older dubros weigh quite abit more and have plastic hubs...I saw they had 5" 1's of these...but the weight was quite high.

while my .15 sized motor works quite well...will be glad to get my bigfoot .10 back in it...a higher Kv...it's like haveing another gear.

They didn't have that motor when I got mine but I got everything else on the list including the ESC, a damn nice one! I used another motor they recommended with 80 KV more and 9 gr.'s heavier. Everything comes down cool to the touch, nice ESC !!! Using a 3S/2200/50C lipo, one of their's, EZ Flite. Mine is actually over powered.. Dave/zeezee

For $5 more and only .1 oz more, went for the 60, just in case I ever decide to go crazy with it. It does seem to be of good quality and they do give great service.

They must have had them back in stock cause they said they shipped every thing on my list. . Iam trying to save weight where ever i can but its hard to do with big plastic wing tubes ,i should have found carbon fiber ones to replace the plastic main spars but ,OH WELL next time. joe

JDMJim has the same motor and esc and i have seen his almost hover ,plus its still light on its feet and not heavy. I called him yesterday for the imfo .Its the first time for me buying anything from headsup rc and so far so good .I ordered at night and they shipped it first thing in the morning and they are only charging 2 bucks for shipping now. joe

The plane will do exactly what it should. I used the fiberglass soars and they are fine. Make it too light and it won't fly well in wind

I know we can all get worried about weight but unless you have a really specialised proposal for the FC weight isn't an issue. As said elsewhere I'm now on my second and in any reasonable breeze it will hover. It can glide tolerably well however weight isn't the issue but drag.

Just as is in still air it is great doing figure eights at head height or lower without any apparent tendency to stall out even at near walking speed. The FC as designed is a really remarkable foamy.

I thought maybe I should post what modifications I made to the front of the fuselage. I have flown probably 30 packs through it so far and no vibration problems yet. I used 4 pieces of carbon fiber rod which I pushed through the foam from the nose towards the tail. I then marked the rod and removed. I used my dremel to cut the rod, covered the rod with CA and shoved back into the hole I created. The top two exited right where the hatch opens up and the bottom two followed a longer path and just barely exited which you can see in the photo. After I finished the rods I enlarged the motor area with my dremel cut a path for the motor wires into the cooling channel with a large drill bit. Once I was sure I had more than enough room I layed 1/4 ounce fiberglass inside and outside the cowling using thinned out epoxy. This worked great to strengthen and cover up the grind marks from removing the dummy engine cylinders. Then I put a light coat of classic white forward of the window to cover the yellow epoxy.

After painting just the nose classic white I put a light coat of flat black on top of the nose to simulate the anti glare paint so common on super cubs up here. On a side note the hobby shop had some super cub stickers from another kit that I used and am pretty happy with the look. I tried to stay as light as possible but I figured a little color would be exceptable.

This definitely isn't in order but I thought it might help some make decisions on what they might use if not using the power pack like me.

I have read alot of pages filled up with people disagreeing on what to use and I am only posting this because it is working great for me although I might upgrade the esc meter reads 31 amps full throttle with the 13x4 and less with 11x5.5.
