Since you mentioned the 72" Extra 330SC would be coming out in the spring, I thought I would start a new thread for everyone that is already excited about it. (and not pollute the 57" thread or other threads)

Do you have any idea what the recommended equipment will be for it? Will it be similar to the 70" Slick? Will the Reaper GR-60XL be the recommended motor?

That way I can keep my eye out for good deals on the equipment and order it before the plane is available.

I understand if it is a little before you are ready to talk about things but I am pretty much already sold on this being my next plane (after flying the 57" version).

Glad you're looking forward to it.

Scott's hard at work on this one, and we're about the enter the final testing phase.

Currently, we're 72" span, almost that long, and configured for either 6-8S (or very light 10S) electric or DLE-30 gas engine. We're going to support a variety of exhaust options on the DLE, including stock, pitts (just rec'd the Jtec DLE-30 pitts mufflers yesterday - gorgeous parts), canister, or (with a little trimming) tuned pipes.

All of the expected goodness - carbon gear, tubes, tailwheel, the proprietary hardware from the 65-70" aircraft, genuine Ultracote is all included.

It's planned for Spring 2010 release, so there won't be much news for the next few months. During that time, we'll be busy with the 65" Vyper release and several other aircraft projects in development with both Scott and Andrew.

Looking forward to this one. Already gathering the parts for it.
Got the servo's and DLE 30 for it already. The next big thing is to find out when Scott will be testing it at our field.
Spring time will be here before we know it.

Ben what would you think of an AXI 4130/20 in this plane? What would be the ideal 3DHS plane for that motor if any?

68" Velox or 65" Vyper is about right for 4130/20, we'll wait until we're doing testing before making recommendations about the Extra. Like I posted above, there won't be any more news about the 72" Extra for at least a couple of months.

Let's see how many thousands of post this one gets before the actual release .

I've been eyeing both of those planes. I can tell it's going to be an expensive winter/spring for me.

When you gonna come out with the frequent buyers card. Buy 9 planes and get the 10th plane of equal or lesser value for free?

This post# is is based on past post counts for 3DHS planes that were yet to be released, pondered on, threads started, queried about, Re-tooled, then buried in Soft Peat for a few days, restarted, Re-Tooled again, and then subsequent, (Minor), revisions made before the production model was released. (Based upon Scott's Final approval, of Course).

Let's not forget the time that they spend on the water from China to here... That Adds 250 post's to the thread. 10 people asking 25 times, "Are They Here Yet?"
This Might also end up being, 25 people asking 10 times...

It's also based on a SWAG. (Scientific Wild A$$ Guess).

Ever since I heard about the 68 velox and 70 slick / 65 vyper I knew a 70 sized extra 330 would be coming.. I really like the look of it and the size of a 72" 330.. Totally what I will be going for. the DLE30 on a pipe or can would be perfect I bet.. Allthough a 68 velox with pitts muffler and smoke sounds very enticing..

edit.. im getting a 65 vyper first OFC :P

Damm planes keep getting bigger all the time. I'm looking at trucks.

I'll certainly buy the 72" SC as soon as it's available. Loving my 70" Slick at the moment and getting a 78" EF Extra next month, but there's definitely room for the SC.

The 72" 330 SC will be my 10th plane and I have yet to reuse any parts from previous planes. Each one is bigger than the last. I hope I settle in at the 70+ range and get a hanger of planes all around that size.
