I bought some of these display boxes from Hobby Lobby, (the craft store), and stained them to display a few of my engines in. I think they were less than $5.00 ea. I have them above the fire place and change engines from time to time. The rest are in a dresser drawer or on planes. You can't have to many old ignition engines, or even old glow motors as far as that goes.

Oh Yeah! I have one diesel, a Taifin Tornado I think. I have never run a diesel, but I might have to one of these days just to see what all the stink is about. LOL

Great display cases ! To stop the engines tipping over you need some stands like these on my Pacemakers. Which incidentally are much-under-rated engines: I have one each of the Mk1 and Mk2, both start and run well on ignition and quite big props, typically a 14x6 or 15x6 as in the photo.

I am always amazed at how much prop these old ignition engines will turn without problems. I sometimes run a 12-4 Topflite Power Prop on my Ohlsson 23 powered Lanzo Bomber, and it flys it just fine. I would imagine a glow motor of the same displacement would over heat with that prop. Of course, we are able to adjust the timing on the ignition motors, and that makes a big difference.

The Pacemakers are one of my favourite ignition engines, I have 3 or 4 of them!
I found that to get them to run well you need to replace the rod with a lighter alloy unit and balance the rear disc.
The balancing of the rear disc makes for a much much nicer and smoother running engine. A real powerhouse.

Here are some rather uncommon ignition engines. The Kark Spielmaker 60 of 1974, next is a Sky Shark 49 ( Japanese ? ) and the last one is a Hope B-29 from Japan.

A couple neat pieces of artwork, at least I thought.

Dunno Bill. I saved those two and there was a few others such as Super Cyke, Madewell, Brown Jr or Atom. I thought I'd go back and look at the rest later and haven't been able to find them since. I think it was an excercise of love by someone who is both a model engine enthusiast and an industrial artist.

I picked up a Queen Bee 29 the other day. Hard to find, but it was worth it. Picture shows both the ignition and the glow version. 1946 for the ignition and 1947 for the glow. I am still in need of the 24 ignition and the diesels and 60 ignition and glow. Bloody hard to get.

Great finds and additions to your collection Frank. Now I need one!! LOL

Are you sure that these 60'ies went into production ?

The 60 glow and ignition never made production, one of each was made along with several diesels. I am sure that someone has one for me.
