That's almost exactly what I was thinking but with a thin ply plate to cover the ends of the wing halves already attached to the connecter. This will allow for some added details and extra strength, keeps you from halving everything hanging out to

J, OK city sounds good. We'll probably leave here Sunday to put some miles behind us. Cuts down on the drive to OK on Monday.

Ah ! Navy blue... one of my favourite camo colours (with gull grey, dark sea grey). She's going to be a master piece. Can't wait to see how she flies !

We'll see what we come up with Pinky.

Thanks egras,
Now you go take a nap.

OK Woody,
We'll try to get out of here early on that Monday morning. Not sure what kind of time we will make with the bigger trailer.

Thanks Philippe
Me too!

Not sure what I'll get done today, just can't handle that green paint very much until it cures out well. May be a trailer/storage work day.

Found something to do besides a nap.

OK, static wing hinging is done. I modified the original holders with an add'l locator dowel glued to it and fitted another holding point in the rear locator tube. Works well, easy to set up ( I like that!) and seems pretty stout for the occasional breeze. I am going to glass the large holder just for insurance with some 5 oz cloth.
Heck they even line up from the side too, looks pretty cool.
But this does open another can of worms. I think the middle section will need a little detail since it is exposed now. Will have to be done with paint as I do not want to mess with the nice looking seam I have between the middle section and outer panel. Crap, it never ends. As Dave Platt says, "You never finish with detail on a scale model, you just have to stop."

This is the rear holder. The ends slip into the locator tube in the middle section and onto the dowel in the outer panel. Heat shrink connects them with a small spring inside to stiffen it and add some strength.

That looks Assume J !!!
Don't no if you understood what I meant by the thin ply so hires a sketch.
Was thinking it may help with your detail problem on the ends of the wing
As always you're the master so do what you do

J, that's a cool wing idea and pretty nice looking F7F with all these details. It's not done, but looks like a dream of a static display .. that will fly in some days, too!!

The static holders are a nice touch. Maybe you could detail the ends with a removable piece that's double sided taped on or with tiny magnets.
