3DHS 74" Edge 540
The 74" Edge from 3DHobbyShop will be arriving soon in the warehouse... time for a thread!
Scott Stoops has delivered another outstanding Edge 540 design, this time in 74" wingspan for 26-35CC gas or 6S-8S Electric power, or even 1.50-2.10 glow.
This Edge takes its styling cues from the awesome pylon racing Edges of the last few seasons, but its aerodynamics are optimized for aerobatics and post-stall 3D flight. All of the features pilots have come to expect a Stoops design: low coupling, excellent harrier, crisp precision - they are all here in a fantastic looking and easy-to-assemble package.
Wing Area: 1000 Sq. Inches
Weight: 9.5-11 lbs.
25-35CC Gas (DLE-30 Recommended)
1.50-2.10 Glow (Mount not included in kit)
Hacker A50-12L with 6S 5000-5800mah 19x10 or 20x10 prop
Hacker A50-14L with 8S 3500-4400mah 18x8 or 19x8 prop
...thread will naturally populate with more pics and videos as we have them, but here's a few of what we've shown already.
note: the photos of the red scheme below are showing the stock vinyl graphics that come included in the box.

I love the gear cuffs, chin scoop, and racing canopy. I'm all for at least one "racing appliance" scheme for each airframe--really dig the simplicity.

Can't get one for a long time but I am in. I love my Buck Huck and am very interested in this one especially the red scheme.

I knew I wouldn't be able to resist. I've wanted one of these for way too long...
So for those that have actually flown a production model (has anybody? Team pilots? Ben? Noll?), how heavy are they real world weight, as compared to say a 70/71 Slick?
The 72" SC was about 1/2 lb heavier on the same setup as a 70" Slick. Likewise the 68" Velox is about 1/2 lb lighter than the 70/71" Slick.
The 72" SC was kind of pushing the 6s power system close to the limit, I always thought 8s would have been a better choice on that plane. If this is much heavier than the SC, then I think I definitely should go for 8s, which isn't ideal for me since all my other 68-70" planes are 6s. Would prefere to stay 6s, but I also like a lot of power. I think the 70" Slick is perfect on 2200 watts.
I would love to see bare airframe weights posted on the website, just the assembled plane, no servos/motor/etc. It would make it much easier to plan power systems I think!

Silver one ordered up! I like the lines, and a racing number would look cool on it.
The red one is very nice and really doesn't need much for graphic's.
Can't wait to get this guy in the air. Need to decide on a power system now.

I would just go with the A5012L. on a hot 6s pack and 20x10 prop that motor rocks, and if you decide to go 8s all you have to do is change the prop (and acquire batteries).
