Thanks Jurgen.

I'd been wondering what delights we might get from Multiplex this year.

I've been looking for an alternative model to a Fun Cub for some "foamy fun flying" and the new Pilatus PC6 could well be it.

But, there's a catch as it seems to be available only in RR version. Do you know if there are plans to make it available as a kit?

And the video: Considering the type of plane a Pilatus PC6 is, what on earth are Multiplex doing presenting it flying like a sport aerobat and hovering like a 3D model? I would much prefer to see how it flies and handles as a STOL model.

However, despite my little rant, the model is definitely added on to my wait and see list.

Steve.

The Shark also looks fun. Wonder how that compares to a EasyStar / Bixler and if it will be as populair. It does have a slicht shorter wingspan.

Like the idea of the snap-on floats for water and snow.

I like the looks of the Shark too. I would like to see more specs and info in English. Anyone know when it is supposed to be released?

Hi Steve,

I assume models like the Shark or the Pilatus PC6 are no "traditional" MPX models, but outsourced and produced and assembled somewhere else.

The Pilatus appears to be too heavy for its size for scale like performance, hence the somewhat "inappropriate" videoclip. But that's just my impression.

In the mini cataloque all the info is provided in German and English.

I think the youtube video gives a pretty good impression about what you get:

They do mention on the website that it is capabel of slow landing and takeoffs, so we'll have to wait and see when it comes out. But the weight is a very good point.

If it does fly scale as well, I see the aerobic manoeuvres as a large bonus.

From German website:

The model is very attractive on two counts: its intriguing appearance and its high fun factor - the machine offers plenty of the latter! Our Pilatus PC-6 has large control surfaces, ample power and beautifully balanced handling in the air, with the result that it is perfectly capable of vertical climbs, aerobatic manoeuvres including knife-edge passes, and even torque rolls! With its large landing flaps the aeroplane can also manage extremely short take-off and landing runs - just like the full-size machine.

The website says short landings and takeoffs - not slow.

A short takeoff can easily be achieved by a powerful drive system and/or some headwind. You don't see much slow flying in the official MPX video and for the landing, they used the grass strip next to the runway.

It was not "private" when I posted the link in February.

Jürgen

P.S.: Stay tuned, I also took some video of the PC-6 at the INTERMODELLBAU 2014.
