Build Log
ECO8 Four blade build back to a 4 blade build log ! ?

Originally this started out as a fly barless set up. But since seeing Lynxman four blade set up, I have decided to instead go with a four blade setup. Since I do not ever plan to fly 3D but rather scale . Hopefully I can find a Hughes 500D body that meats my requirements.

Well what began as a flybarless then to a four bladed has now gone back to a two blade build.
Maybe alter with a reasonably priced stabilizer becomes available. And lynxman makes a improvised four bladed head unit. I will give it a go again.

But you can still follow the build to see just how it is /has progressed through all the different stages.

p.s. Well I love how it flies on 2 blades. But it just doesn't look right. So I am going to buy the head back from dog and try and use 4 new Gaui blade holders to put 4 blades back onto it. Not sure if I will try and do the Cyclock setup, after seeing what happened to Lynxman's helicopter.

Wish me luck !

That should work.

Be veeeeeery careful on the first flight test. My first flybarless was uncontrollable when I started raising the collective.

About the pitch i have tons of pitch and i dont need it i now have my swash settings for pitch turned all the way down to 32 % and this is plenty for 3D... i used shrink tube on my pins to lock my washout bet the best thing to do is do a set screw but if there isnt enough plastic for it to grab then i would do the shrink tube thing and put a drop of CA and let it dry so it wont pull off..

Thanks Speed stick 3D

looks good though.. glad my idea is being put to use... not really..

lol

depending on the diameter of the pins.... put a small wheel collar on it.
assuming it will clear the lever.

Hello

We have found that using a simple shaft collar to hold the washout into guide pins is a very secure way to hold the washout in place. Its ok for it to slide up and down on the main shaft.

Just a tip.

First flight next year probably.
I still have to save up for a "Z" motor, Castle CC45 ESC, and a 401 if my other hh gyro won't work.

THEN
Hopefully not

I setup a Corona flybarless and found that the swash movement is amplified in cyclic response. Set your servo travel down to about 20% for your first spool up.

You will find it flyable, but not easy to fly.

I am looking forward to your first flight.

Hello

You need to get that percentage up to have good servo resolution.

You need have a bigger grip ball spacing vs the center swash ball spacing...the Mikado ratio is a very good one to start with.

Flyable but not easy is what it should feel like with no stabalization. Add one of the avilable systems to your heli and youll have a pretty sweet setup.

Well after reading different flybarless setups. I have decided to not go that way. But will start assembling it towards a four blade set up and put this one inside of a Hughes 500D body !

Today I received my red "Z"20a motor. Brand new and a great price. Plus it looks really nice with the red swash plate i also got. And I also got two more red polo servos ! Took them parks and checked them out and lubed them up. Did you guys know they had steel gears and ball bearing support ? I didn't !
Looks like i will put all three on the swash plate set up !
Yes it is a tepee gyro, Will use it just for setting it up till I get everything else. Like the body, four blade setup, linkages, 401 gyro. And whatever else I can think of ? Oh i also got some of those red linkages for Spiderman that go just above the swash plate. Really cool and no play at all now !

Hehe, cool. It's built from depron and the scale accuracy leaves sometihng to be desired though.

Have you seen these paper fuselages? http://www.modeltek.com/

They are designed for Micro helis but it wouldn't be too difficult to scale them up to use on an Eco 8. I have built the Apache a few years ago and it's a very nice set.

Almost looks like they blew up the size and just used depron instead of paper ?
