A4 64mm EDF at Nitroplanes
I just got in an A4 64mm EDF from Nitroplanes.
A4 Review Info and links OMG! was this an easy build. It came with EVERYTHING needed. Servos are pre mounted and glued in. Wires are run and the landing main langing gear has a snap in cover. The nose wheel needs a grub screw (1.5mm hex) and it came with the too. I elected to pull the nosegear off totally cause I'm hand launching at a grass field. The Epoxy in the instructions said 5-10 minute drying time but the working time is like 3-5 minutes. So you have to use like a dollar coin size amount for each wing. Pour and mix more than you think you will need cause you may not have time to go back and mix more. They give you twice the amount of epoxy you need. I did the wings seperatly so I could cover it with a thin coat then hold the wing together for a few minutes till it set up. You only have one chance so you better trial fit everything. I taped the elevator servo junction before putting the vertical stab in. You can 't get to that junction once the vertical stab goes in. Only thing I did extra was to put some foam around the Rx to hold it snug and foam the back of the battery to keep it forward. I'm gonna need a little bit of nose weight cause without the landing gear it's about 4-8mm tail heavy from the CG they give you in the instructions. I poked a hole and ran the antenna out the top. The nose cone is plastic instead of foam so I like that it will flex insted of dent. I had to hold the nose cone on by hand the entire set time of the epoxy. When gluing the horizonatal stab, it was easier to put the thin coat on the inside of the vertical stab then slide the horizontal stab in and hold it a couple minutes till it set up. Total build time was only an hour. There is no wall wart power supply for the charger, just alligator clips to a 12V sourse. No worries cause I have a computer charger. IT has the 4mm bananna connectors on the esc and battery like the BlueLipos or Turnigy batteries. I'll replace with deans or just make an adaptor cause I have lots of other 1300mAh batteries. Rx battery connector is the same type and polarity of JR/Spektrum so I used my spare DX7 battery to power it. No flight yet, but I'll post video of that when I get to it. |

[edit post at request from moderators] Yep, it sure was windy that day. The A-4 seemed to handle it OK. Shame the video was cut short, why not show us how it lands.
