Motor current

Motor draws 1.67A at the 47 gm thrust measurement. Let me know if
you want a set and I will order enough parts. Would you go for
the added battery and prop?

Interesting that you are using the AD-C5 on 1S.

Have you had a chance to test the AP-03?

My guess would have been that a LOT of folks would want one of these setups. The price is much better than another I looked at. And a complete solution has a LOT of appeal to me.

But perhaps everyone else is as broke as I am after Christmas, etc.

So we may be collectively just waiting..... which could give him the wrong message about this neat setup and its commercial viability. To put it another way, I wish I could speak for one right away, but I cannot.

ap-03 motor

No I have not tested the ap-03 motor. This is a much higher kv
motor which uses 3020 prop. The ad-c5 motor is about half kv
rating and thus I can use larger 5 x 3 prop and get more efficent
operation and better flying characteristics.

Ahh cool.
So would you setup be good for a 3D plane?
I have a 4-site that I plan to strip when the airframe is dead. I would like to scratch build a light 3D plane and put a brushless setup into. I also would like to stick to the 1S batteries that I already have.

The ap-03 is fine with a 4025. It works good for me.

Any idea on the thrust and current draw?

According to BSD, "At 3.5 volts and a 4x2.5 prop it develops 42g of thrust with an amp draw 2.5A."

The AD-C5 is a really lovely motor. Whenever I do a micro brushless project, my first thought is "will this be a good fit for the AD-C5?" On 1S with a GWS 4025, it's got plenty of power for a 39 gram 18" Bird Dog. On 2S with a GWS 4025, it's got plenty of power for a 70 gram 20" Cherokee or Musketeer. And with a GWS 5030, it really does draw between 1.65 and 1.7 A of current on 1S.

1S set up for 4-site or other 3d

I am getting my 4 site this week and will see how the original set
up goes before going brushless.

The 1S BL sets I sell should make the 4 site or simular 3D planes
really fly great. The 5 x 3 prop gives great efficiency and plenty of
thrust. You just need to keep the 3D airplane RTF weight down to
the 33 to 35 gram range.
