Get some curved lexan scissors, it makes it MUCH easier. I painted some parts of my M3 on the outside to make them more matte, just mask it off very well and you'll be fine. I'd paint it from the inside too so that if paint ever chips off it won't be as obvious.

So I went ahead and rough cut them with scissors or blade (which ever was easier) till I got close. Then I dremelled it clean. The front could use a little more work, but it's fine. I sprayed the "diffuser" and foglight bezels black from the outside and they turned out just like the full size version. I also sprayed the front and rear light housings silver/chrome, aswell as the mirror lenses. i haven't put any trim stickers on it yet, but it looks good.

Overall, the color is a bit lighter than mine, but I get to have it for our meet tomorrow.



I'll be putting lights on it so I won't apply the stickers to the light housings. I forgot to get pictures with the grill and rear reverse/fog housing.

Looks good! Did it come with lexan light buckets front and rear? I had to make the fog light, turn signal and rear buckets on my M3, such a big pain!

Ya it came with the buckets, but they would have to be modded if actual lights are used. I've had so much fun with it so far, but after driving with an mini E-Revo, well I need more speed. I know, too much power makes it too touchy and not fun to drive, but a little more would be nice. With that said, what should I be looking at? Again I don't want to break the bank.

Before buying the motor, check what gearing you would need to run and make sure you can run that with the TT01 motor mount.

I'm honestly not sure on the gearing. I was assuming that the little info I have seen was based off of the stock gearing. I'm really new to the car side of rc.

If kv is too high, I could always just increase the gear ratio.

That's my point... you're very limited by the motor mount system in the TT01 to what gearing you can run.

I see what you mean. The stock mount allows for 19t (stock), 20t, 21t, and 22t pinions.

I spent all of last night looking for motors (on the cheap) and ended up leaning towards a sensored motor. I ended up coming to the decision of one of these motors.

4800kv

Sensored is a waste IMO unless you're building a rock crawler. As for what kv, I can't really offer much help other than to suggest to see what other people are running with what gearing.

I have to disagree with the rock crawler only thing...in on road touring car racing a smooth throttle in the infield is much easier to deal with..

You get plenty smooth throttle from a sensorless system, the only difference is at very low throttle input at very low motor RPM.

Sensorless motors are actually better/more efficient at higher RPM's as well, that's why you don't see any sensored boats/planes/etc.

I've got a Tekin RS Pro and Redline motor in my 22T, and a cheap leopard combo in my XXT and at anything close to, or above, a slow walking pace they very comparable in throttle response. One is a $60 combo, the other is a $320 combo (bought the 22T used, and it came with the tekin ESC/motor) and it's definitely not $260 better, especially on a track.
