Parkzone Stenson Reliant BNF

Hello, I have a friend and fellow club member that acquired one of these planes before they were discontinued. It's a BNF so basically all you do is put together and go fly. He's a good nitro pilot, he said he checked it all over good and made sure lipo was fully charged, but every attempt to take off he said soon as he pulls up it snaps to left? I ask if he throttled slow and gradual, and he said he did? I've watched him take off many times and he can fly. I asked if he throttled it up to full on ground and watched surfaces, and he said he did not. what could be going on? could it be a power draw causing a glitch? anyone had a problem with this plane? I've only seen one other, and it flew great!

Model must be allowed to get up to flying speed then let it lift off with very little up elevator. Use nudges of right rudder to keep straight during takeoff run. Hold some up elevator to keep tail wheel down during early part of take off run then release to let tail rise. This is a scale model of a 30's luxury plane. Fly it like a scale model, keep climbs and turns gradual until you understand it's flying characteristics. Make sure CG is right. Should be OK with a 2200 mah 3S centered in compartment. Model is easy to fly if you have reasonably good tail-dragger skills. For landings: trim elevator for level flight at 1/2 throttle, reduce throttle to let model touch down on main wheels like a P-51. Don't dive at runway or you will beat up the plastic landing gear parts.

It's a "Stinson Reliant SR-10". There is a very long thread about this model in the Scale ARF forum:

Putting in a bit of downthrust (washer under top motor mount screws) will help keep the nose down and smooth out the flight profile.

This model takes off and lands best on smooth dirt or paved field with wheel pants. Taking off from grass is iffy unless grass is short and very smooth like a putting green. Fly in an open area without trees or backstops etc, needs room to maneuver. Fly in calm air, don't fly in high winds or crosswinds.
