1960 sterling chris craft model

I am reconditioning this kit that I built in 1961. I believe its a model of an Express Cruiser by Cris Craft.
Where can I find pictures of this boat to help with the reconditioning, and to see if this is, in fact, the madel I have.
Also does anyone have a place where I can uy some new fittings such as the throttle levers.

Welcome to RCGroups, Wayne! Do you have any pictures of your boat you could post? There are a few C*C fans here whould could identify it pretty quickly with a picture!

And Aerominded is one of the most knowledgeable and helpful ones. He even has a copy of THE Chris-Craft specifications book.

Ah yes, the 32' Chris Craft Super Deluxe Enclosed Cruiser!

Looks like a nice model there!

Not aware of any current on line pictures but here are some particulars that may be helpful to you from the original files:

1:1 Boat
Built 1950-52
Number made 130

Hull: painted white with copper-bronze bottom paint
Boot top color (water line stripe): Blue... Red after April '52
Cabin top (roof) color Blue... Light gray after April '52

Decks, cabin sides, etc left natual (like your model)

Single and twin engine options until 1952- Looks like for '52, they were twins only-

Hope that helps! Please let us see how your restoration goes!

Thanks for the help. This model has a single prop. I plan to use frosted "windows" to hide the inside and probably will use dim lights inside to give a nice glow for night running. I am a member of the Edina Model Yacht club here in Minneapolis and we run our boats after dark at Centennial Lakes in Edina. We have a lot of people that walk around the park and we get a lot of interest generated on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday nites--------when teh ice is gone of course!!

How about pleated shades instead of frosted windows.

Aero, the enclosed cruiser usually doesnt have the windshield right? It looks like someone along the line added this. Someone makes a wood kit for an enclosed sedan cruiser, I remember seeing it at the LHS. I remember the blue cabin roof and no windshield. I'll see if I can find a pic.

The kit had a windshield. It was my first boat project at age 9 in 1953. I was too young for the project but did finish it, with Dad's help, at age 13. No r/c, we just set the rudder and let it go on it's 6V lantern battery.

Gentlesoar- Aerominded has the boat pegged. It is a 32’ Super Deluxe Enclosed Chris-Craft from 1950 to 52. The original came with an additional rail that started at roof line and swept back aft of the cabin about 6’ which had a canvas screen which snapped or laced in. according to the hull numbers Chris-Craft made 130 units of this model. Due a good job of restoring the model there are not to many of this Sterling model showing up anywhere either built or in kit form. Rare find in model form.

I'll agree on it's being rare. I've never seen one before. Looks like a nice model and fixed up will be a nice addition to this forum. Keep us posted WITH PICTURES of how your doing with it.
As for parts and hardware I would keep an eye out here and on ebay for a fittings kit for it or one of the other Sterling CC kits like the 63 footer which will have the same hardware in it as the original or almost the same. pete

Actually, a number of older built models as well as a few kits have shown up on ebay this past year. I am aware of them as I have been searching for a fittings kit for mine. So they are out there, keep an eye open.
