what do you think of a genesis

Hi all

I am planning to upgrade my genesis, i have upgraded the esc to T180 and now planning on fitting a leopard 4082 16kv motor,

Firstly what do you all think of the genesis ?? Is it worth keeping ?

Secondly is it worth upgrading then ?

I was thinking of maybe getting a Appirition or something in the 32inch size,

so i am puzzled what to do ? Do i keep the genesis and get appirition or upgrade the genesis ??

Get your self a Mean Machine . Better handling hull . Nobody beats Aeromarine when it comes down to raceable cat hulls .

Vernon, what are your goals? Oval racing or just straight line speed? The genesis is better at the latter. It can be very fast with the right setup, but chasing hyper speeds almost always means lots of retreiving/rebuilding and less boating. I found 40-50 mph to be fun and the genesis even handles pretty well if you're smooth on the controls. Above those speeds, you have to be much more careful of setup, electronics, steering, ect..

In your other posts you say 4s + 2075kv is "slow". How slow is slow? I assume you meant to say you were upgrading to a 1600 kv 4082. That will move the boat, but you'll need to go to 6s.

To answer your question, I'd upgrade the genesis. It's a good size. I wouldn't want to work on anything tighter.

I've been racing boats for many , many years I know what does and doesn't work . If you can make it work well in race water then you will be a much happier person . Hulls with narrow tunnels just don't turn as well as one with a wider foot print . I know Aeromarine hulls are not as scale looking , but you don't have to get out of the throttle when you are hanging it on the buoys . If all you want is to go as fast as you can , then sell what ya got and get a good rigger .

I agree if the OP wants to race...

There are many reasons why individuals prefer certain types of boats, planes, or whatever. I personally like the scale appearance and performance of the Genesis.

Since Vernon was comparing the Genesis to the Apparition, I assumed he wants to stick with scale-ish cats.

The one thing I prefer about the Apparition, is the flat bottom hull sponsons vs. the true-to-scale Genesis. As with other, more race-friendly hulls, the flat bottoms allow the hull to slide through a turn rather than hooking/flipping - as the Genesis is more prone to do.

Vernon, since you have the Genesis, I'd upgrade it, fine tune it and enjoy. If you want to get rid of it, and like the Apparition, I'd get a 41" Fantasm hull instead. It's pretty much a bigger version of the Apparition.

Hey all

Thanks for all your input,

To be honest, i am gonna keep it for now, gonna fit a Leo 4082 1600kv motor, then from there i will just tweak it to get it to perform the best, maybe next winter get another hull to replace it(or not) and will keep that one as a single drive too( 4082 1600kv on 6s)

I want to purchase a hydro next month to build so was thinking of the HOR 33" hydro,

i will eventually get another cat, something like fightercat and run twin power.

I am very new to this hobby and enjoying it, have a mate who got me into it. So will be looking to join a club.

If I were getting a hydro I would consider the Insane Boats Fe30. Fast and very stable. Expensive... but good. About half of our club races that boat, including me.
