Building a 500 size MD500

Building myself a 500 size MD500

Finally got around to getting some wrench time in.
It's only a 500 so I am not doing a cockpit, I got the windows in and painted.
I consider this my "fun scale" I'm keeping it old school with a Flybar.
I've got the 500 just sitting in there for a test fit.
I still have to work on mounting blocks and tail pushrod.
Should be ready by spring just wanted to share my progress

Here was my little 450 I built last year.
She met her end by a dead cyclic servo.
Seeing a fiberglass fuse hit pavement from 15' is Sad!

Funcopter MD500 build

HI CR, I just finished painting all the windows with KRYLON . Was wondering which paint you used?? Not that I am an expert painter but I'm not too impressed with KRYLON.. Also I noticed that you put in the back windows, not worried about heat build up??? How did you attach the side windows????
Lots of questions ( my first fuselage build)

Thanks Ray

I use Tamiya rc car body paint and paint the inside of the plastic, Not the outside! I like to use hot glue to install the windows because it is not permanent and if needed you can just peel the windows right out. I decided to tint my windows because I did not want to see the 450 and 500 mechanics. I do not install the top windows do to wanting the battery and ESC to vent as well as that is my access to the rear mounting screws on the risers. My 450 never have heating issues.

Feel free to ask any questions! That's what we are here for

So got a little bit of work in on the 500 this morning.
All navigation lights are installed, the inside is painting black to hide wires and mechanics, and the golden rod kit is installed for the tail pushrod. Now onto making the deck to raise the mechanics up to appropriate height in the fuse!

She has her air legs! Great flight until the landing and the wind blew it back. Thank goodness for the fin skid!

Maiden flight on my MD500 G-Jive (500size) (3 min 36 sec)
