Pickit2 ver 2.61.....can not program PIC 16F88 on certain Hex files.

Guys, have you encounter this......I am developing a simple data logger using PIC16F88.

Normally, I usually put a no. of my program say datalogger1.hex, when i add a new feature I add a higher no. of my program say datalogger2.hex .

I tried to download a new program datalogger2.hex to PIC16F88 , it alway produce verify error on address 0, but when I the older program datalogger1.hex it alway program successfully.

I have use another PIC16F88 same result, this mean the chip is ok.

The New program is shorter than the old one cause I remove some of the feature.

Could there be a problem with my PICKIT 2 version 2.61 ?

I never encounter this problem using PIC16F877, almost all my project I use PIC16F877 ....... I guess, If I can not resolve this issue, I just need to go back using PIC16F877.

I have had this on a 'f88, turned out to be the pgd and pgc pins, my addition to the code was using timer 1 with an external xtal, if you configure the external osc for timer 1 it messes up the pgd and pgc pins and you cannot program the pic, pgc and pgd are the xtal osc pins.
A jtag type programmer will still erase the pic so you can start over.

Dr pepper, thanks for your reply........

Anyway, I was able to make it work, by just using a last know working program, then adding a single statement one at a time then compile it to hex and flash it to PIC16F88......I was trying to catch which statement is the culprit.

I guess, there still some bugs on PIC Simulator IDE version 6.91 . I am using its Basic Compiler.
