Okay no rudder servo - I kno you've mentioned
this in the past ... are you saying you turn with ailerons alone? Have you found any downside to this in pointing the craft?

Some Kunai owners desire rudder because it helps maintain a flatter turn while they're circling within the thermal. Ailerons are used less. They try to glide slower to find thermal activity.

But for a faster Kunai the rudder does not respond enough for the way I fly my Kunai. I really like seeing my model flying nearly knife-edge as it's flying way out there. I plainly don't use rudder on most of my airplanes. So, why have unnecessary dead weight of a servo? That's 5% weight savings. I know people in competition pay $100's just to save 1~2% weight savings lol.

For me, no Rudder. I use the space for a bigger (longer) lipo pack. No rudder, more capacity! Muahahahha evil laugh....

The Kunai in any fashion flies so well it's really an amazing model. Such a wide flight envelope. With mods it can be set up as a thermal model at @18oz, or big motor, huge battery and weighs as much as 25oz and hadles 25mph windy days while the other guys are at home. It could slope soar at any weight.

I found the rudder pretty much ineffective in normal flight.
As DSD alluded to, some have said that rudder is used to do flat turns at high altitude and then watching for a raised wing signalling a thermal.
Me... I've no such luck and hence do mostly climbs and glides with the occasional super long glide because I lucked out and hit the invisible thermal and didn't know it.

With different TX and lipo combinations, just how cramped is the fuse on the Kunai?
I'd really like to use my AR610 and telemetry (volts, temp, and variometer).

This is with a 3s1600mA and no rudder servo.

Hint: Zoom in until the Deans plug is normal size in 1st picture, and the 2nd picture the hobby knife's handle is normal size.

Sling a 2200 mah underneath and you'll have all sorts of room inside plus 45 min flight times.

It looks like if I want my telemetry I'm going to have to go with a smaller lipo. Sure do wish Spektrum would develop smaller RXs w/ an incorporated TM1000 or a compact TM1000. If anything, I can remove the bulky plastic cases.
Thank you for your pictures and comments.

The side cam often reminds of the passenger view out the side of an airliner.

You could use an AR636. The limited room is one of the key reasons I chose to use Graupner on this bird. Plenty of room for a telemetry receiver and a vario.
