Mike,

The 310 comes with 2 ESCs each supplying power to the receiver. These ESCs are pretty reliable. I would use the electronics as supplied till you get some experience. If you want a separate power supply for the electronics, then get a UBEC (Castle makes a 10 Amp one that many people are very happy with). The UBEC connects to the same battery that powers the motor via a Y connector. The LIPO supplying power to the plane has plenty of power for both. I use a 3000 Mah 3 cell LIPO.

LIPO batteries should be charged outside of the airplane, preferably on a fireproof surface (I use a clay flower pot). Double check the settings on your battery charger, before committing to charging your batteries. If your charger auto detects the number of cells being charged, monitor the charger to make certain that it detects the correct number of cells. Most of the LIPO fires I am aware of were started by charging the batteries at too high a voltage. Never leave charging LIPOS unattended.

Thanks for the tips Roger. I've got several small LIPO packs that I keep in a safe place - just in case Better safe, than sorry.

I think I'll just build out the GC with what's in the box, and go from there. No need to complicate matters, I suppose, until I've got a little more experience with electric flying...

Had 5 flights with these motors now. Sounds awesome and tons of power. Still running stock esc's with MAS 8x6 props. Lots of carving in the cowling but all good and well worth the mod.

Can someone tell me the best battery that will fit the cg
everything is standard ESC motors etc i have a 2200 3s 20c in it

I use a 3000 3S.

I use a 2650 3S 30 C. Why is your 2200 getting warm? Usually because of pushing the discharge limits. Could also try running a pair of thin Zippy 2200's together in parallel creating 4400mah with the same 11.1 voltage: http://www.headsuprc.com/servlet/the...Harness/Detail

I fly a 2450, but didn't like having to flip the plane over to shoe-horn the battery into the stock bay underneath. After seeing a tip here, I made a custom battery bay behind the windscreen. Now I can open the windscreen (tape-hinged) and slide the battery in through the front. Works great, looks great, and is far better at balancing big batteries since they straddle the CG when laid in flat.

I'll bet this location would fit much bigger batteries than the 2450 I put in. I did have to cut a bit, and I glued in a new foam piece to act as a battery holder, but the result is worth it. I'm not certain that 2x2200 would fit with this technique, but it's worth considering.

No mods at all. Check these out:

The thickness of the two paired together is less than a 3000 mah pack. 4400 mah for longer flight times with the same voltage. Plus they are fairly cheap.

The paralell Y connector only costs $4.50 from Headsup rc.
