Wannabe,

The engine did not 'redline'; it more likely reached, or exceeded 30K for a very short time.

When such a mishap occurs, one outcome can be that nothing happened...
But another possibility is that one (or both) bearing shed its cage.
The con-rod could also snap.

The bearings in that engine are rated for pretty high RPM. The 6902 is rated for 34K (NTN for 28K!) and the R6Z is for 37K.

You will have to take your engine apart, since if you try running it with a shed cage, it will be disastrous.

Replacing a bearing is not very difficult and they are inexpensive, if you don't insist on OEM (or Boca).

More than likely nothing is wrong with your engine, it is normal to have a small amount of play. If you are not familiar with working on engines, do not take it apart. Turn it over by hand and if all feels ok, go ahead and run. In general, model engines are very durable.

Removing the back-plate and examining the rear bearing at either side of the crank, while rotating the crankshaft, should be enough to diagnose a shed bearing cage.

You'll be able to see the con-rod too, of-course.

That's all the 'taking apart' that you'll need to do.
