Hi Alex,

Did you try the tapered microstrip match on simulation? I would like to see the radiation plot results.
Not yet but if you are really interested I try to get this done once I return from my vacation in two weeks.

Thanks for your feedback. If you would like me to check any other of your projects please let me know. I have also optimised the SPW and the software came up with an omni wire antenna that very much looks like the fan:

This seems to be the perfect structure. Why isn't this replacing the SPW?

All the best

Perhaps you missed this as it was over on FPVLAB under the Airblade thread.

Side note: I have since pushed the Cyclone axial ratio to .97

900 mhz

I finally built my 900 mhz helical. It works pretty good, seems like I can't fly behind it very well. So if you look at the picture, I installed a wave trap on the first 1/4 turn. Question; since the coil is made from 1/4 copper tubing, do I need the wave trap?

Reflector is 12" pizza pan, supports are 1/4 oak ply

Thanks

Krystal

Nice antenna indeed

-As this is a directional antenna " can't fly behind it very well" is to be expected.

-Careful that plywood doesn't get damp as it will affect performance. Did you treat the wood?

again,

nice job..

No, plywood is nude. I read in this post (somewhere) that you should be able to fly behind this antenna a little. I can't fly 50 feet behind it.

Thanks for the complements.. I've got about 15 bucks in making it. Pretty cheap.
