interlaced and jerky images

Hi guys.

I am very new in FPV. Ordered and just recieved my first FPV equipement:

HeadPlay googles
KX191 PAL
2.4GHz 300mW TX/RX

and I am a bit disappointed because when panning quickly the cam, the image in the googles is very interlaced and jerky. I doesn't look like this on the videos you are posting.

Is that normal, or is there some adjusting to make?

thanks

Marcel

I noticed some of the jerkyness you're describing. I noticed it after the flash. I think it has to do with a bad video signal and it's trying to fill in the blanks. It's not really jerky but more a noticeable flicker.

Hi,
I took some time to analyse the problem, and it is worse then expected.

On my TVset I have a perfect fluid image without any glitch never.

when connected to the headplay, depending on the image content the headplay will have trouble synchronizing on the signal. (I use a KX191 PAL) this will cause jerks, freezes, glitches. With some content I can have only a frozen bad synchronized picture that will restart fine just by putting my hand in the picture.

using another camera the problem is existing but much much less, you could even not notice it.

HELP please.

I am not far from sending the whole thing back to HP. and take a FS!!!

Ok, glitches may come from TX/RX. I did connect on the TV and on the HP simultaneously and I could see the glitches on the TV. moving my hand in front of the camera can generate different 2.4GHz environement.

Nevertheless a reception glitch is very short on the TV (1 frame) but takes much longer on the HP. To me this is due to a low frame rate on the HP. I guess the frame rate in not better then 10FPS in composite mode. With a VGA or USB the fps are perfect.

can you confirm the low FPS ?

thanks

I was having problem with really low fps (about 10fps) and de interlacing on my headplay unit. Upgrading solved both problems. But im experiencing some periods where the fps drops and the picture freezes abit. But it only last a couple of seconds. It happened once when i flew over a lake. I almost sh*t my pants

Im going to report this to headplay.com to see if they can come with another update to fix these problems.

Headplay issues

Just been browsing thru many pages of forum stuff on FPV and goggle options; and from what i can determine - there is a choice between Fatshark and Headplay, but aparently the jury is still out on this...is this true. Does anyone out there have a definitive answer to this question? Would greatly appreciate some response....thanks in advance. Rob.

Hi,

I found some kind of work around and posted about here

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...&postcount=190

let's see how headplay support responds to that.

regards

Received my headplay goggles and the picture is great but.....

I want to use it mainly for video flying.
The videosource is a PAL camera with composite out.

The problem I have is that I had a few FREEZES !!
So the picture stopped. Still a view but it stopped.
Frame freez happened about 3 times in 1 minute and lasted about 1 a 2 seconds.

This is (of course) not acceptable in video flying and is here already a sollution for??
The firmware I used is the 1.2a beta that sould have solved any PAL problems ....... I quess not?

You guys already found a sollution to this??

in the other headplay thread you said you were gonna ask headplay, what did they say about it ?

Did you try with an other pal video source ? cable or whatever to see if youre having the same problem ?

Might want to try an other video receiver if you have one handy and an other cable... never know

I'm still using the original firmware forgot which version, I've never had any problems with it I'm scared something will mess up if I try to update

But you have a NTSC source right?

I still need to find some time to troubleshoot some more to reproduce these freezes.
It looks like that with playing movies there is no problem... but I have to try some more.

I haven't heard from Headplay yet; yesterday I wrote them again.

Which firmware are you running actually?
