This is sad and worrying. I'll miss his almost 'watchmaker' like builds and I hope he's alright.

Hacked

Hello my dear online friends,

First off I greatly appreciate the concern over my "dissapearance" as it were from RCG and I thank all those present for this concern . As it seems someone either got very lucky or there is a more concerted effort I must report about. Point blank I was the subject of a hacker. As all of you likely know RCG sent an e-mail that pointed out that passwords had been hacked at RCG and one should change passwords. Not thinking an account at RCG would be of any interest or value to anyone I did not do this. The end result is that someone unknown to me "requested" that my account be closed which the owners of RCG complied with. Sadly my Photobucket account which also carried the same password as a convenience for me was also suddenly gone which resulted in the loss of all material stored there.

Because I am not sure who the perpetrator of this act was or why I was chosen as the "lucky" one to recieve this unwarranted attack I have chosen to keep a low profile. Though I never had any issues with anyone at RCG (and neither are any issues known to me in any other forum online) I can therefore only assume it was indeed a random act.

I am needless to say disturbed by this but have opened up this account at RCG to see if someone once again grabs the opportunity to attack me. Please understand that as a result I will not be posting and will be merely reading along for now untill I can be certain that this was indeed a lucky guess by someone and that I can in the future post without worry.

In the meantime I see all of you have been very busy and the projects look very good. I wish all of you continued strength and patience with your projects and I will be reading along for now.

I have for now not taken up direct contact with the owners of RCG as I highly doubt they can really do anything and in their writing they did explicitly advise that members at RCG should change their passwords. So to all of you I can only advise you to comply with the e-mail sent by RCG and change those passwords and make certain that you do not share passwords between sites.

My best wishes and kindest regards to the membership.

Jens,it is such a relief to here from you.A big smile on my face, and I'm not ashamed to admit,a trace of a lump in my throat.
Looking forward to you being able to resume posting, what any body gains by hacking a forum account is beyond my ken.
Regards and best wishes Stuart

Hi Jens,

What a bizarre story. Thanks for the update and the advice.

One of my clients was hacked and I, along with everyone else in his contact list, started receiving emails from the "hackee" urging us to go to this new great website...with a link. It's ID theft.

It's simply laughable that anyone would attack you "for reason". The fact that they took down your photobucket account too is just too weird.

I hope that this works out for you.

Jens,

good to hear that everything is fine besides your hacked account! It was mere chance. Maybe your password was not strong enough?!

Great to have you back,
Andrés

Hi Àndres,
Most likely the password was not terribly strong and somebody figured it out. Not a real big problem just annoying. I updated my passwords so no worry for now.
