Draftsight. This link worked for me... http://www.3ds.com/products/draftsig...ad-draftsight/

Editing and saving the file gives the same file size. A9CAD had increased filesize tenfold, and editing was not easy. I had to use A9CAD at work, because of licensing issues.

Here is the link, after installing it is activated online:

I hope others can make use of it as well.

I design and draw by hand Flat sided Fuselage and Flat Wing Electric RC Models. I want a CAD Program that will allow me to design my simple Flat / Sheet Foam RC Models. I want to design the Fuselage, Wing and Tail separately and then view it all assembled. So can you guy's suggest something that will do this, something that I can learn on. And something that wont Break my Hobby money account!

Thanks
Bobby

A lot of folks use Google Sketchup for this type of design work. It's free.

+1 for Sketchup for flat foamies although getting a usable printout is quite a challenge I hear. I use it in conjunction with my CNC machine so I don't have to be concerned with printing anything out.

Most any drawing/drafting program will generate the 2D plans to build from. If you want to see the assembled project on the monitor, that will require something with 3D capabilities and that is another can of worms.

I've been using Auto Cad since ver. 7 or 8. It's been that long that I can't remember I even gave 5 years of evening courses on the subject. I started to use SW recently but i'm got problems with certain thing but it's coming along good.

PS can I put an automatic signature here. Let me know!

I have Turbo CAD Deluxe 16 2D/3D and am attempting to learn it by myself. Being dyslexic and a slow learner, this will take a long time, even with the on disk tutotrial. Has anyone else done this? I love drafting but there is so much to learn, its like a college class that you take at home. Any one have tricks to help learn CAD?

If it's possible for you to take some evening class in CAD, then I would if I were you because I admit that it's not easy for the best so I know took 3 session & that really help me. Now I teach AutoCad.
