Man Capt, when it rain it pours. Sory to hear and the best of luck.

I ran accross the plans for the woodie canard that I scratch built for slope. Just did not mount a slimmer motor on her.
The canard name is a little amusing;

That's cute!

I had a goofy idea of getting a GL kit, and bashing it together backwards. I'd have a hellova time flying it, and remembering that it's backwards.

Just do it. I am sure Capt could help the addjustments.

I remember a pic from my of my old S&E zine's of a sailplane designed to fly backwords. I will look.

Off to make some homemade oven dried plum tomatoes with olive oil garlic n herbs. 6 hours for yum yum.

Yeah, there were a few canard sailplanes offered. The one bouncing around in my head was in IIRC Model Builder.

I have had some experience with canards through the full scale Long Eze I spent many a nights on for my old boss. I will say this, stalls were pretty much a thing of the past (or acted as we know it compared to conventional planforms) and you could do some way cool high banked turns leaving the pattern to impress the lesser mortals.

Thanks Jared, you have now made me hungry.

I think either RCM or MAN had one back in the mid/late 80's. I was always impressed by it's design and wanted to (someday) build it. Can't remember the name of it though. This weekend I'll go through my old mag's and see if I can find it.

If you can swing it, and if you can take care of it, renting a house is sometimes nicer than living in a multi unit apartment.

I've been lucky with my landlords, for the most part. But I've never lived any place that was more than 6 or 8 units. In a place that small if you always pay the rent, and don't mess things up, they notice.

Get a place with an extra bedroom to build in, if you can!

Hi and thanks for the support folks!
Last weekend I even went 'hogwild' and spent 10 bucks for the lottery- wouldn't ya know- the lottery subject came on Late night news, and I did it wrong- ahh well- i guess I shouldn't expect a house for 10 bucks!
I did see, though, that what I figured as mid 100's is going for 90, so I did conclude buying is best! just gotta hit that win!
Katie, my vote was a tie dyed type as you have done, but wife said no
anyway, the shape of everything else is fine- when I explained to her, as she watched me fuss and fiddle and walk away from that c word, that when I had put sarah's own written name on the C, she thought I was doing the bird as a one of.
WOW, the whole world over here fell into a sink hole and imploded from the shock of it all!
I did what I did with the C mostly as a learning curve for myself. I will say, no, i did not have any fun- Shrederman , Mark Miller and all really get my support, as just a build log by itself is a large task, and retracing from PDF/ sketches etc, only multiply the complexities by a Whole Lots!
I did try an Oly 650 backwards, but the front end MUST have a foil up there. I had tried 3 times with flat plate type elevator/ canards, and they just don't work- for sailplanes. I was diggin' about, getting some links back up and running into this here Lion machine, and got here, and will add another in moments. some folks swear by the Canard CG Calculator, but 'Kubiak' and I have found a 12 % average of bad math-- for sailplanes, again!
Jared! that looks like a clean , basic bird and good taste in the oven!
more torments later!
Johnny

Oh, my-lanta, Cap'n. That's one purdy plane.

An EDF glider, huh? That reminds me of the tabletop drawing I made once of a rocket launched GL.

Thanks kids!
A rocket launched 'gentle' Lady! I'd love to see this!
Sean: Which one? I'm also going to electrify the Lightning- the squared plank- compared to Bill's rounded one-He's a member, ( Canardly fly), but I kant get him to participate! His Tiger Mac is for Macfoil and solitaire!
the presently active- 8yrs now- blue/yellow wing is a Butterfly 2 with 9" tip break, a bit sluggish, but very sensitive to thermal infos. Sig Riser, with a set of ribs taking her out to 132" is in box waiting, and Sarah- her own thing, I was surprised that 2 M's fit on the 48" fuse the way it does- original Counselor was 100", did inverted flat spins!
Did have a good week workwise!
the troll!

That you, Cap'n? You got wood chips in yer hair.

I don't think I kept the napkin I drew it on, it was ripping too much. But the build would involve somehow hiding an Al tube in the fuse. I planned on using micro servos and a teensy battery way up front to keep the motor at the CG. It can be done, but with my loss of access to a machine shop, making the long taper on the tube, and making it accurate, will be very difficult.

Don't throw out your beard clippings Captain C, cut them down into aggregate and mix them with epoxy on a wing build, could be better than micro baloons for strength and box bonding!

Good to know: I'm sure I have plenty trapped under the plastic wrap. Not to mention the odd puncture where the cat got the nibbles. I left them there, thinking they were the cat's way of saying "good luck!"
