New Product
FlyingFoam Joker

The Joker is an all EPP forward swept flying wing designed to be a sport aerobatic plane. With the optional rudder it will even do OK knife-edge. We think it's one of the funnest flying wings out there, but we are a bit biased

Build videos and written instructions are up as well:

Enjoy,
Coby

Very cool looking plane...

I checked their site and there are several versions available, the short kit is $50 and then it goes up.

@Joker24458 I think that means you needs to buy 24458 of them;-)

Let us know if you have any questions. James just bought a Rimfire .10 and I got an OS .10 to compare. Much more motor than you need for you average Joker, but we thought it would be fun to do.

Haha, yeah, I'm have to buy 24,458 of them. What I really like is the rudder and the ability to knife edge.

Yes, the rudder is a big part of why we think it's so fun. I flew mine with the OS .10 this weekend and it did OK. Not high enough KV to be scary fast, but it's probably getting up to 90+. Would not recommend it as a good motor choice for the Joker. Turns out when you put a 12" prop at 400+ watts on the front you really need to have the nose reinforced against twisting. The thing tries to ring itself out - literally. Good for some chuckles but not so much for everyday use. So far 250-275 watts has been a very good size for speed (we out ran an older brush-less Stryker with it) and agility.

James has the Rimfire .10 which is higher KV and should be closer to 300 watts (that's about 200 watts/pound on his build). He is building a new Joker to put it on with a newly designed fin/rudder - It's got a bit more area on the bottom to help reduce some of the coupling in knife edge. We'll let you know how it goes.

C

Hello cg, I placed my order today. Got my motor from here: http://www.rchobbyintl.com
an HM 470-10, I hope it works well. I just need a few bits from Hobby King and I'm good to go.

Chipped Rotor,
Thanks for the order! Should ship today.

Had a hard time finding the motor on their site, but found this thread:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1883428

That motor should work great. What James and I found over the last week is that we can do 90-100+ on about 400watts (same motor setup as the MPX Dogfighter). BUT it's just not as fun for me. It's exciting - for about two flights. We both prefer motors in the same range as what you are getting -- Still pretty fast, but also good for some sport aero. There will always be folks who just want to go fast (and it was fun getting there), but not my cup of tea for something I like to fly at lunch.

In the next month we will be offering on our site the HiMax 3510-1100 in a Sport Aero Joker Combo, as well as the 3516-1350 as a Fast Joker Combo (same as Dogfighter Combo). We can order them in now if someone wants the combo, but have to do it via custom order until we get them up on the web.

If we can dig up the funds we will also test the 3514-2900 (same motor as goes in the FunJet) just to see what the Joker can do - If you are going to go fast you might as well go really fast.

Regards,
Coby

Thanks cg, I like speed at times but, I'm mostly a sport flyer. I hope my set-up is just the right combo for my style of flying.

I think it will be just right. The 250 watt range yields a nice range of speed, performance and aero ability.

Here's a bit of flight video of James, our shop manager, having some fun with his Joker 36. It's got a Rimfire .10 on the front with an APC 11 x 8. Makes about 280 watts static at this altitude.
