Coreless motors : polarity & direction?

I've read a bunch today on small coreless motors however I still have one important question: Are they designed to turn in either direction by simply reversing the polarity? Or are they optimized or wound or 'tuned' or brushed to really operate properly in one direction only?

Hi,
swich polarity on the brushes and messure the revs each direction .If they are the same ,the motor has no prevered rotating direction.If on way run higher revs ,this is the prevereddirectionIf you most use one rotating direction you have to adjust the brush holder to the right angle. To do it is simply let the motor run und the prevered load and under this load you have to adjust the brushholder so the motor sucks the lowest amps at this load. Normaly this is needed at every load point.This is what happen with brushless contoller in the autotiming mode.

Excellent information.
Most of these are small brushed coreless motors and not openable (without destroying).
So there is no way to adjust anything.
But I can certainly do the RPM and load tests you mention.
Good common sense information.
