It always seems to work that way Sean. Until a plane has been "broken in" I'm always shaking at the knees while flying it. Once it's had to have some repair work on it I'm more relaxed while it's in the air. Granted I don't own any of the glass slippers as I'm a cheap s.o.b. when it comes to my toys, but I can only imagine that the thought of all the money up in the air would turn me into a puddle of jelly until it either landed safely or had had some repairs done on it.

Imagine what it's like making that first flight with an only-one-in-existence hand-built-from-scratch prototype of a brand new glass slipper design!

I've done that more than my fair share of times, and it does not get any easier with experience.

Didn't fly them but I have on two occasions stood on the edge of a runway while a full scale homebuilt that I did at least 50% of the work on took flight for the first time. I stand there with my binoculars watching for parts flying off with my car running so as to make a quick exit if a wing or tail feather flies off.

scaflock - Definitely in agreement over the 'few repairs' thing... I always like working out any bugs in a plane first before I get down to really flying it. My VQ Stick 1500 is a case in point - it had horrible landing gear stock that needed a bit of beefing up before I was game to fly her properly.

Mr. G - Thats an awesome photo mate, do you still ride? Recently had a chat with my Grandfather about his current mount (BMW GS650 Dakar), been meaning to go for a ride with him.

As for progress on the flying wing glider (need a name for it...) its pretty slow. Had a few big days/nights with mates for Australia Day so not much in the way of modelling. Might get stuck in today though as its wet outside.

Come to think of it Mr. G is a pretty cool dude, I sure wouldn't mess with him!! If I can be building and flying when I am getting a little older like Gerald does I reckon I would have won lottery.

Ditto the sailplane type Vs pilot arguement, it's what you do with what you got that counts.

I'd have a flock of crunchies in a heartbeat if the money was there, but will always get the biggest kick out of something you have crafted by hand for timber TD.

Firstly though; new Tx batteries and then we are up and away again, get patches straining at the end of 700ft of spiderwire.

fer long! Restored (cleaned up, and TLC'd) a 1981 Suzuki GS250L that a rancher buddy gave me. 1,561 miles on that little beauty and it purrs now.

Maybe after the wife gets through with her redecorating wishes I can get back to my flyin' and repairing.
