1999 Report Warned of Suicide Hijack

The report contrasts with Bush administration officials' assertions that none in government had imagined an attack like Sept. 11 before that time.

It becomes clear what the payoff of the airlines and survivors was. There would and will be high powered sawsuits over this.

So you think a bunch of lawyers will be filing lawsuits.....now there's a surprise.......

This report was given to the federal government in 1999......but Bush wasn't in office then, Gman2.
Guess we better go after the other guy, right?

Hi Ric,

I'll have to admit that everytime I see another one of these
political news threads I have to ask myself why.

Why would anyone sit around all day reading news stories
then post his news findings on a forum devoted to model airplanes?

There are lots of forums and discussion groups around that are
dedicated to news and politics. If someone wants to discuss such
things, why wouldn't they want to join one of those forums and leave
the Ezone to the discussion of more appropriate subjects?

I guess it's a slow day on the street corner yelling at the passing cars.

Funny Sparky, made me LOL. May be accurate, too!

Hi DNA:
I've avoided this forum for several weeks but got suckered back in. What a dummy I am. Sometimes I just can't keep my big mouth shut.
I agree completely with you. Besides, who the heck wants to argue politics (or religion, for that matter) when we can discuss planes, gear ratios, motors, batteries, airfoils and all the hundreds of other fun things we enjoy in this hobby.
Plus, I've got a new plane I want to try to fly tomorrow, so wasting time here is really a waste.

Here's another cheap way to conduct a sneaky attack that was tested and reported on in 1998. It also has a lot to do with model airplanes.

A few years ago then president Clinton and Hillary paid a visit to this area for a christening. The route they took went right past our field. A couple of us got to the field before the authorities blocked out the traffic.
While we were flying our planes we were "interviewed" by the secret service who came to the field to check us out. Saisfied that we were harmless they allowed us to continue our activity.
Later I learned that radio controlled vehicles are a serious concern to those protecting the president as there is virtually no defense for them.
Highjacking has been a weapon used by terrorists for years. Any rumors that pointed to this activity would be looked upon as highjacking in the traditional sense. Capture a plane-make demands. The recent jailing of the 1993 terrorists might have been interperted as to what the reports refered to. Palastinians being held by Isreal also possible demands as well as ransom.
Taking out a building would not be on top of the list.

Now come on people if someone told ya they were going to fly a Plane or 2 into some building you would do the same as I tell them to get real no one could have fore seen the events Sept 11.

I mean big difference to hijacking a plane and flying it into something.

Thats the trouble with people today looking for someone to blame and ya all would have moaned like hell if the Govt had locked ya all down.

And even if everything was locked down-

not even a partisan hack can claim that that would have meant stopping people with utility knives...

or enacting the one and only defence against this particular attack - telling people to fight back against any effort to take control of the plane...

instead of the traditional policy of going along with hijackers and letting the "pros" handle it...

or are they suggesting we should have had strict profiling preventing more than 3 Arabic visitors on a flight.
