Modesto R/C Club

Well, alot has happened to our club recently. Our members fly gliders and electric planes in the Modesto, CA area, Stanislaus County.

We have renewed our flying sites with the City of Modesto and County of Stanislaus.

We now have permits to fly at Enochs High School on Sundays. That is a wide open and huge grass field at the back, north of the school.

The other renewed permit is the Modesto Reservoir Park and Lake. This is a medium sized lake fed by canals and is used for irrigation and drinking water. There is a county park built around it, with restrooms, boat docks, camping sites, and more...and the MRCC flying field. We have made some improvements. This flying place has the "out in the country" feel. The flying area is flat, but you have a choice of flying around some hills nearby if you want. Picnic tables, and a near by restroom highlight the pilot-guest and parking area. We have had this field for so long, the "traffic signs" for the park, have our "R/C Field" listed with directions and how far to go. This has always been a "thermal rich" area, plus some near by hills will give you a slope lift if you know where to look.

Our club has been alive for over 50 years. We started with mainly "tow winch" gliders. We still have an up-to-date club winch, but electrics are so popular we fixed up a hard ground landing strip close to the grassy glider landing area.

Enochs

Flying at Enochs is all electrics, or gliders only right?

What about control line with electric motors?

Thanks

Doc
