I have a Testor's McCoy .049 that I restored back in the spring (link to restoration). I have been wanting to start it ever since but have not had any fuel for it.
What kind of fuel do I need and where can I buy it?
Last time at was at my LHS they said they do not carry 1/2A engine fuel. Can I buy it online, if so where? I may go to the LHS today, if I do what should I look for when buying fuel?
I do have some Nitro fuel for another engine. The sticker on the jug says "2 & 4 cycle. . . .18% oil content. . . .10%Nitro" Would this fuel be fine to try and start the .049 with?
It's probably easy to tell I have never dealt with RC IC engines before.
Thanks in advance,
P.S. I also posted this in the 1/2A plane forum

The "real" Testors fuel I believe was 20% or 25% nitro (may be wrong on that) and 25% castor. The Cox engines needed the castor for the ball and socket small end of the con rod. Have you tried Sig for fuel? I know they offer all castor fuel. Not sure if they have small quantities. Maybe Tower also. I know they have fuel in quarts.
Way back in the day I was mixing my own fuel for 1/2A pylon at about 60% nitro. You had to lap the piston and sleeve with tooth paste so the engine would run and not seize.

I think the most important thing with the .049's is having enough oil, and preferably castor, at around 25% although even 20% may be enough. As for nitro, although I've never flown an 049 I've run a few of them (Cox) on the bench using zero nitro and all of them would start with one flick and ran perfectly. Nitro would of course give more revs but it's not necesary.
