Sagitta 600 wing joiner

Hello! I'm currently building a Sagitta 600 but have run into some problem regarding the wing joiner tubes. Are the fuselage wing tubes supposed to run through the fuselage sides or do they reach only to the insides of the fuselage?
I cant see this from the plans that I have. The 1/4" tube that's supposed to be inside the fuselage is 1 3/8" long and is a bit "short" in my opinion.
How is this meant to be?
Regards

Should run all the way through the fuselage sides, including any outside wing root caps.

Sagitta 600 wing joiner

Makes everything clearer now.The 1/4" tubes installed in the wings were a bit too long, that explains why the tube inside the fuselage is a bit short. My kit has been started on somewhere in time, and someone has cut the tubes at wrong lengths. Then I need to get myself a piece of 1/4" tubing so I can make this right,
thank you very much for help!

If it's a normal Sagitta 600, the tubes should be 7/32 ID, 1/4 OD. The 7/32 dia music wire rod should be adequate even for a mild zoom, unless you're a real winch stomper. If it's some other kind of rod, it may not be strong enough. But unless it's brittle, you'll bend it instead of breaking it. A bent rod is a pain to pull out of the tube, though.

If you haven't got there yet, keep the tail as light as possible. Substitute wood if necessary. You may want to make the fuselage slightly wider or add a little bit of material within a few inches of where the front of the fin meets the fuselage. That's where mine used to break. Don't go overboard, though. It only needs to be slightly wider and/or stronger. I think I just glued on a piece of balsa, sanded so that it met the fuselage smoothly, on either side. Can't remember if I used 1/16" or 1/8", but it wasn't horribly heavy stuff, and it was enough to do the job.

Last year I "upgraded" my 7/32" Sagitta 600 wing joiner rod with an ejector pin. It's nice and strong, though still on the smallish side in terms of diameter.

Here's what I bought 3/32" pin for the incidence pin in the rear of the wing. I cut them off with a Dremel cutting wheel to the right length.

From: http://www.plastixs.com/ep01.html

Item Ref. Price ea. Qty. Description

PE1-094L6 $3.94 1 6" straight style ejector pin, 3/32" pin diameter
PE1-219L6 $2.50 1 6" straight style ejector pin, 7/32" pin diameter

I got these pins when I decided to convert the Sagitta 600 to electric. I built a second fuselage with minor nose modifications to accomodate a 28-36 outrunner running on a 3-cell LiPo. AUW was a little heavy at 34 oz. I should have kept the tail lighter.

Cheers

W

Trying to keep it as original as possible, but I'm gonna put servos for spoiler in the wings, for easier use.I'll may strengthen the tail a bit.Looks like a good idea, for winch purpose.

your build is coming along nicely , I was surprised to see the wing rod tubes not in a little further into the wings.

I just had a look, it appears your in a sheltered Fjord north of Oslo..

What are your options, when you need building materials, balsa and or kits?

Is it exclusively on line or can you pick some things up locally?

I understand of course local stuff may likely all be metric as well..

The tubes are all installed per plan, but as I said earlier I think they are cut too long by previous owner of this kit.Or did they come pre cut from Airtronics? I don't know. You're right I live by a lake, the biggest in Norway. Here's only metric wood to buy.Have to go online (USA/GB) for inch material. Glider kits are not many of.Mostly Great Planes stuff. Have ordered once from Balsa USA and got good quality.
