Before I bought the Aurora 9, I programmed Hitec servo (reverse direction) to have 2 servos sharing a Y. Not a good practice but still work. But as mentioned before, if we spend $2k on a large 3D plane, a $100 difference in transmitter cost shouldn't be a problem.

For $150.00 (Tx + Rx), I really likes the look and its feature.

Added: my $1,2k 72" 3D planes still only need 5 channels (w/ subtrim is nice), not a 6th yet.

Anyway, this radio looks like a nice introductory radio with some cool features. If this was out back when I picked up my 6EX, it would have been a hard choice between the two. Though I do like that the receivers I used with my 6EX also work with my 8FG.

I missed a good deal for one several weeks ago ($130.00 for Tx + Rx, 2 weeks old). Forgot to check my pm until it was sold.

How many channels can you control with the gimbals? Is this a "real" 6 channel radio?

I emailed Futaba about using 4 AA NiMH for power. They said it wouldn't be enough. It needed a 5 cell 6v battery (at a cost of around $46-57)!

I wonder how Spectrum DX6i does it?

HomeDepot sells a 36-pack AA battery for about $12.00
Did you ask for the minimum voltage required by the transmitter? I use 4 NiMH in my Dx6i. Fully charged shows 5.5V

Can you tell me if that radio will be able work with a FASST module ?
They don't have a 10ch Rx, they sell the FF10 with a big 14ch Rx or a small 6ch Rx.. W.T.F ?

I'm sure they will have to come out soon with a new software for the 8FG, coz the A9, DX8, and XG8 are cheaper and are built-in telemtry..

4 with the joysticks, one proportional knob, and one non-proportional switch.

Anyway, the 6J is still a very good "upgrade" from the 6EX.More features, looks better, and cheaper.

I am genuinely sorry for Futaba, having been a committed user of their gear since 1971, but I really think they have lost the plot with their 2.4 sets. The biggest downside for me as an electric flyer is the lack of telemetry and even their software has been eclipsed by the new Spektrum Airware (IMHO). I am a sports flyer and I don't need high frame rates or fancy airborne system architectures. What I DO need is stuff to work together...

There seems to be no consistency, or maybe that should be coherency?, with Futaba's releases and they really seem to be desperately trying every possible option with no thought to the poor end user. With 35MHz you had a very good level of inter-manufacturer compatibility but while I understand that the different 2.4 transmission protocols now prevent that, at least you would expect compatibility within one manufacturer's products, wouldn't you? I certainly do! The only small consolation for Futaba is that JR are just as bad!
