Okay so I am in between the 7954 and 7955 servos. I definitely want to run HV and I know I have been reading that the 7955 can run at 7.4v but because it is not written in any HiTec literature it concerns me (why is that HiTec).
One question I have is retailers not HiTec say, "Approved for use with High Voltage A123 6.6V & Li-Ion/Poly 7.4V batteries without Regulator" Without Regulator, so does that mean you can't power this from a Castle BEC Pro as I would take it that is regulated. Is a 2S battery the only way?

""Approved for use with High Voltage A123 6.6V & Li-Ion/Poly 7.4V batteries without Regulator" " means just that..
i.e. use any of those packs with a fully charged voltage upto 7.4v without a regulator or use a regulator set
at any desired voltage upto the specified amount as the packs voltage will drop whereas the regulator
would hold the programmed voltage.
You are familiar with the extensive thread with same question:
. Hitec HS-7955TG Voltage
Please see also:
. Servo - Operating Voltage Range - (Hitec) usage with NiMH, Lipol & A123 batteries.
. Hitec HS-7955TG - Voltage quote
"While the 7955TG is not officially rated for 2S Lipo, it is capable of using them with no reduction in life cycles.
Hitec does have specific HV servos coming soon including the 7954SH which is essentially exactly the same servo
as the current 7955TG but with steel gears.
The top of the line will be the 7950TH with over 480in/oz of torque at 7.4v!
Look for these new High Voltage servo around June, but for now...
Yes, it's okay to use the 7955's on unregulated 2S Lipo which will make the specs right around .13sec@375in/oz. Mike " 23Feb2009.
As always, the higher the voltage, the higher the speed wear and tear.
