Sounds strange but it smells like a cat peed all over it. Any one else experience this with an eflite kit? I got an Extra 260 480 as well and it is the same way.
Do you have a cat?

I just realized my Tcraft is 5 years old this year. Hundreds of flights and dozens of mishaps. The latest one was from the Jan 1 FreezeFly.

This plane is like a Timex... it keeps on ticking.

I spoke with Horizon Hobby today and they didn't have an answer.
Said this is the first they heard of this. I attribute it to the paint that was used in the build process. Both the Taylorcraft and the Extra 260 have the same grey
Applied and that is where the majority of the odor is coming from. All parts were sealed in plastic from the factory and no box damage.
My other eflite pitts and mini pulse xt don't have that paint and no odor.
Horizon recommended to febreeze the tha airplane. 1st time for that!

WOW! I'm surprised they didn't tell you to dip the plane in vinegar and baking soda too!

90% completed with the build. Other than the odor, things went pretty straight forward, my setup is as follows:
Turnigy park 480 1020 kv motor
Turnigy plush 40a esc w/bec
apc 12x6 prop
Zippy 2200 3s lipo
Hxt 900 9g servos all around
Spektrum dx7s tx
Spektrum ar400 rx
I may trick out the cockpit with a crew and instrument panel, it looks to nice not to. Have yet to reprint the suspect odorifus paint. Got the tail epoxied on last night.
Looking forward to this. Should be an all around good flyer with some scale attributes as well.

Although the taylorcraft will handle the 2200s with the 480 sized motor, it handles way better with the 3s1800 that weigh between 142-160g. It is way less likely tip stall while reaching stall speed. Short field landings are nice. Also with the 2200s (190g) with a hard elevator pull (I have my throws maxed out) it will high speed stall... Not good when diving to earth.

Depends on how I fly... 6 mins tearing up the sky. 9 mins doing touch and goes.
