Beaver rocks with a gws 9x7 prop

I built my beaver during the weekend and I tried the 10x4 prop with my AAA 7.2v 300mah battery (from my TM). With this setup I got about 2-3 minutes of flight time and the beaver felt like it was struggling to gain altitude and I had to keep full throttle to stop the beaver from falling out of the sky. Well, I remembered that the same thing happened on my TM when I tried to use the 10x4 prop, so I switched it with the 9x7.

With the 9x7 the beaver took off quickly and I had to reduce the throttle to about 1/3 to stop it from climbing. This was way better than the performance with the 10x4 prop. The flight lasted about 5 minutes.

I have bought some AA 1600mah NIMH batteries so I should have more power soon, maybe then I will try the 10x4 or the 10x8, but for now, the 9x7 is the way to go.

Is that NiMh AAA 300mAH or Nicads? imo if it's the NiMh it's probably not putting out enough amps for the EPS-300. I've no problems with the stock Beaver prop (10x8) on 6 cell 1600mAH NiMh, and the stock TM (9x7) on 150mAH Nicads or 300mAH NiMh.

hello peter,

It was the AAA 300mah 7.2v nicd battery pack. I didn't try the 10x8 prop because other threads on this forum said the 10x4 gave better performance.

But as far as I am concerned, the 10x4 is no good with 7.2v AAA 300mah nicd or lower batteries.
