I found this little StaggerWing Bipe at a swapmeet. I installed a Magnum .15 with Futaba servo's and Rx, it weights in at 2lbs 9oz, ( 1164gms ), RTF minus fuel. It is a balsa/ply with covered foam wings. Wing span is 34 1/4" upper and 32" lower. Overall length, tip of spinnner to back of rudder, is 31". I was told that it is about 14 years old and it has never been flown. A virgin

There are no fuel stains on any exposed wood and the cover is in great shape.

It seems to balance out alright but I would like to be more accurate on where to balance it. I balanced it where the main spar would be on a wood wing and used the upper wing hung upright on my CG Machine.

How do I figure the CG on a plane like this?

I have tried 5 times to upload pictures but I get this message: "POST requests from foreign hosts are not allowed." I did not know that living in Indiana was foreign .... but then again

I will keep trying ... till then.

Please explain!!! Have you flown it at that balance point?? If it flies well there, then the CG must be close, right??

Here's a suggestion, though.

Find the MAC of both the top and bottom wing, and balance it half-way between the two points. That should get you close.

Hey Viper, no I have not flown it yet. Just doing some homework first. I will have it ready to fly the next time we have some decent weather. Should be in a couple of days.

Tried to post a picture again but I got the same message as to being a Foreigner.

Sorry. This is a biplane but it is not a staggerwing. A staggerwing has the top wing to the rear of the bottom which is opposite of normal. If you don't find someone who knows this plane, try it about an inch behind the leading edge of the bottom wing. Good luck and let us know how things turn out

What you've got here is an Ace All-Star bipe. Do a google on it, for CG location.
