I think your cameraman did his absolute best to keep it out of view. Is this sucker top secret? Looks like it fly's well though and nice launch.

We were facing the sun and so impossible to see the screen (no view finder) on my little camera. Hank takes great videos in better conditions.
But yes, it is top secret.

pogoed,

Nice flight. I should weigh mine. 9lbs seems so heavy.

Closer to 10. But it's an EDF- you prop guys get the same performance with much less weight (and cost). To each their own, as long as we're enjoying the hobby, right?
I failed to comment on your wing cam flight- really nice!

Tom,...Mine is still in limbo. If it weren't for my inability to do/make ducting--it would have been done. Then this spring I got derailed-- bought 4- Yellow Aircraft kits. Before Charles retired. and closed the doors.
1-starfire, 1-, F-16, and 2 F-18's .. one an older polyester kit the other a NIB --epoxy one. from the west coast- Y/A .
. Currently working on building a Dynanmax premo fan. And custom built 1900 series motor from Neutronics .
This will be for the epoxy /F-18... Should have 14+ lbs of thrust on 12s

Thanks Tom. I sometimes wish I would have done an EDF, like the sound better, but had the scorpion laying around already.

Made missile rails using lite ply and balsa, held on the wingtips with CF posts and rare earth magnets. I once read somewhere that U.S. demo aircraft have the rails left on so they're "combat ready" if need be but I wonder if there's a structural or aerodynamic reason? Maybe it's just to give the groundcrew something to hit their heads on...

I don't know to what extent but if you read about the Blue Angels F-18s they are actually stripped down quite a bit. I think it looks better with the missile rails.

But they still retain the missile rails!

I know, I was referring to the rc versions but I guess I wasn't clear on that.

Should any one be interested-- last yr while working on mine, I got some info/pics of the rails off the Y/A F-18 .

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...&postcount=110

At this time, I'm not to sure I'll even finish mine?? When I started my project-
this kit was priced right, (Feb 2014) this spring was different, had funds to get some Y/A kits while I could still get them. 2 of them are the F-18 singles.
including the struts and retracts.
