Nice,
Is that highway 10 into Montreal? Looks familiar.

How do you like the Magellan? What set-up you using?
Cheers Mike

Ahh I drive by there on the way to Montreal. Looks like a nice place to fly.

Nice little motor. I had one in a mini-nyx for a while but it seemed to developed some sort of timing problem.

I don't see a big antenna sticking out of the back so I am guessing you are using a 2.4 system? Do you have any reception problems with the 2.4 and carbon weave of the fuselage?

Cheers Mike

Beautiful. I love my Omega II/Magellan . If you want a real kick in the pants motor system look into this with a 12x6 prop and CC Phoenix 35A : http://www.maxxprod.com/pdf/HB2815-xx43.pdf

I get close to 3500 fpm climb rate, and it still thermals great!

Great little e-glider. Bought mine from ICARE with the power train recommended by Etienne, i.e. a MEGA ACn 16/25/6 motor, controlled by a Schultze brushless Future 12.36e ESC and driving a 13 x 6 CAM aeronaut prop.

I elected to install the V-tail servos up front below the wing access area, and am glad I did as it enables some flexibility in battery location while preserving good C.G. control. The V-tail controls are driven via carbon fiber push rods connected to Dubro ball links, a great slop-free setup.
Mine's the blue version, except for the fuse, which I decided to paint as shown. The C/F in the basic fuse structure soaks up heat in the California sunshine, which is not good from a structural stiffness standpoint. The lighter paint covering prevents that.

The flap skeg helps minimize the ground slide, as well as protecting the deployed flaps. A hand catch beats all though!

how is this plane carrying about 8-10oz of camera video weight?

are there any power setups for long duration flights but
also strong enough for high thrusts during launching when there
is extra 8-10oz of weight on her?

I flew a Radian stock with a GoPro and some heavy 3s 2200mah
and it flew and thermaled well....

what is the comparison compared to this magellan vs.
Radian and a Multiplex Cularis besides' being a foam.

thanks all.

Fly for the first time today the Magellan (Omega) same., almost 60 degr., sunshine plus zero wind, I fly this little 1400 outrunner with 3 cell,.try is new prop 10X6 HK carbon prop from Esprit Model , almost vertical climb, plenty of power , also fly test the Nemesis from Northeast Sailplane with is new EM 5X5 FD carbon prop from Esprit Model verry fast machine, so a nice day to start is new season, for the camera loading there no problem , I use a Contour camera I use only 2S-5000 lipo,.rate of climb just perfect, 3 cells.,just awesome perfos., with 2- 5000mah batt. even fly inverted with camera with-out any difficulte. Low drag glider and verry light. Happy flight. Cheers

Omega

I am new to this form of gliding. Here is a photo of my Omega II 2.5. The flaps have not been configured but working my way towards it.

The fuselage colour is just opposite of Ronhowell's.

Same 13x6 Graupner prop but the motor is a Hacker gear drive. Esc is Turnigy 70A.

Magellan

There the set-up for the Magellan, alluminium plate, use the same nylon bolts for the wing. http://www.li-po.ch/produit.php?prod_id=13083 New test today with 3 S-3250 lipo 45C ,at 60 amps with 740 watts.,a bit over load amps.,for the motor set at 45 amps. max., so for the Mafellan weight 3lbs.X100 watts. per lb.need 300 watts for verry good perfos, so at 740 watts just climb vertical with this little hotliner 1400 outrunner ,at 2 lipo it perform verry nice , the power is there no problem , .The camera weight 5 oz. glider magellan weight 3lbs.2oz.most of the time I fly with 2S-5000 lipo plenty of juice for this light 3lbs. glider, plus the CG is right on., Cheers

thanks for sharing those pics and your camera mount.
Great video
I would like to buy this plane.

I wanted to ask you, how much does your VidCam weigh?
is it more than 9oz ?

I'm not familiar with this plane, but I wanted to know,
how does your plane fly with 2s-5000mah?
is that light setup for this plane? or a medium/heavy setup?
Also, can you give me some Links on some Scorpion Motors or Hyperion
motors that are a direct fit? I would rather have a overpowered plane
just in case I get into trouble.... if its too overpowered, I wont use
100% throttle.

Its just that I'm going to put about 10oz of Video gear on this plane
and thats what I'm worried about.

I want to FPV (fly first persion view) this plane, but I'm afraid the
wings maybe a bit too weak? is the structure of the plane
pretty strong.

I fly a Multiplex Cularis (2.5m) powered Glider for FPV and
I also flew a Radian FPV.

how does this plane fly compared to my planes up above.

again, thanks for the pictures of your camera mount.
It has given me great ideas

If you go with Scorpion S-3020-1110 KV (V2) on the chart with 10X6 prop at 14v. you get 47.6 amps., and 666 watts.,plenty of juice if you use full throttle , http://www.scorpionsystem.com/catalo...I-3020-1110KV/ still a verry good choice 2 or 3 lipo. Cheershttp://www.scorpionsystem.com/files/...data_chart.htm
