Another contender was the BMW bubblecar, VERY similar to the Isetta with a front opening lid.
In the UK, bubble cars could be driven on a motor-cycle licence if a reverse gear blanking plate was fitted to the gearbox, - had to have a CAR licence if it hadn't.
Many had to be pushed back if the driver parked facing a wall
The Messy was OK untill hot sunny weather when it acted as a greenhouse and cooked the occupant(s) although the one shown has a ragtop, many had a perspex Bubble top. Poor little 200cc engine used to break easily too.
