I'm looking for a pointer on battery size etc.
I am currently using Turnigy 2200mAh 40C Lipos, that fit nicely into the front compartment. However, every higher capacity battery I have looked at is longer....too long to mange to get the angle to slide it into the compartment. So, you guys who are using the higher capacity batteries....what batteries are they and how do you fit them in? --------- The reason I am looking for higher capacity batteries, is that I have put in a Hacker 30 motor and a 14 x 7 APC electric prop. This pulled 55amps at WOT when held on the ground, so the stock 45amp ESC has been replaced with a Turnigy Plush 60amp (peaks at 80amp). The performance is great...hover at between 1/2 and 3/4 stick and bags of power to pull out. I did need to put some upthrust by adding washers to the motor mount, but that allowed me to take some (a lot of) trim off the elevator and she behaves much nicer on landings now! But...with that draw on a 2200mAh battery, flight times are woefully short...hence why I would like to know where to put a larger battery! Thanks in advance. |

My lipos are Nano-tech 3300 4S :
![]() ![]() ![]() Tools used to widen the lipo's place. It is necessary to remove approximately 1 mm on each side, on the length of the compartment, it is necessary to get the access from both sides, so you'll have to remove the motor and it's mounting plate. I have glued the ESC on the top of the compartment, and I have widened it in a way that the battery goes in by rubbing, thus it remains in position without fixation and without risk of moving in flight. Fast and easy.
