The problem is when those radio's are not shut down properly (battery dies) the data is not saved to flash, so only when the switch is switched off is the data saved... This is what I've read from people who seem to know such things.

That makes a lot more sense. I kindof expect I'll find my models still there when I power it up again.

Not true on the 7. If the battery dies (and you don't know it) and you turn it on..POOF. Its all gone. It might save at shutdown tho but I don't see how. When my switch goes off so does the display instantly.

I have a lipo in my older dx7 and I remove it to charge it. Sometimes it will stay out for days. I havn't had any problems with model memory on mine.

Once its turned off that's fine. Its off. I've not dare try to yank the batt out while its on. That shouldn't do anything but maybe not save trim settings on the model you were on last but you never know. But it does fry the board if you turn it on under low voltage or let it die staying on over night. Happened to me and lots of others. Do a search.

landing gear or not?
I always takeoff throwing underhand and land on grass. I would guess it will be stronger and lighter without the gear.

Man, that's not how mine works. On mulitple occassions I have left my tx on and found the batt totally shot; but all the model mems are still there.

I lucked out a week ago and left it on overnight. I was pissed ! I didn't touch anything. I unplugged the battery and charged it. Plugged it back in and it came up and on fine.

I like the gear because it can save props and shafts and chins having basically a spring on the nose but it does fly much better and tumble harder without it.

I've never had an issue cutting power before landing in order to save the propeller; however, I imagine some additional soft-spring gear might help, even though I am landing in grass. I'll check the weight once the plane arrives, but as you stated, "much better flying" beats gear because I am only flying on grass...

i got the digital/mg 12 g servos and 45/90c Trinogy batteries from HK ($10-11 each). I ended up buying from the international HK location so I won't be able to finish for a couple weeks. The tx & rx are futaba's 2.4 fasst system 6ex, the eBay seller guaranteed the Rx had not been used, I almost got the spektrum 6i, but the eBay deal seemed better on the futaba. We'll see if it flies as well as the "Sabre 47 with the Saito 82."

The 35 flies way better than the 47 ESPECIALLY if you had a 4 banger on it!

Alright guys. About to order one. Going with the supertigre .10 after hearing all the good talk. I can't decide which size packs. 1050's, 1300's, or 1550's????? Any opinions?

1000s won't give but 3-4min flight times.
1300s are the sweet spot with 6-7min flights
1500s about the same but a bit heavier
1800-2200s actually work well and give 10-15min flights.

Thanks for the info. The 1550's I'm looking at are only 12 grams heavier than the 1350's, so I'm leaning towards those.

What all replacement hardware is necessary? Control rods and horns?
