All,

I just put a BP 2212/13 on the Dipstick, and noticed that the current with a 10x4.7 slow flyer prop was over spec for the motor's continuous current. (3S lipo) This is Millennium's recommended set up.

It was late when I did the test (not sure my sleeping wife appreciated the noise), so I can't tell you exactly how many amps over spec it was, but it seemed a fair amount. I put a 9x5 APC on it, and it drew 12.8 Amps. BP specs the motor at 13 Amps for 60 seconds maximum, so it appears that this is the biggest prop I should use.

What's everyone's experience with this motor on a 3S set up, at various prop sizes?

I haven't used that motor before but can tell you that a static test will draw more amps than the plane will while in the air since the plane is moving and there is less resistance/drag on the prop.

Looks like the 9x5 is a recommended prop so I would fly it with that and just make sure it doesn't run so hot you can't touch it when you bring it down.

I have been using this setup for more than two years. The 10 4.7 is the rite prop. BP's specs are over conservative. 20-21 amps static is normal.
