Lost then Found

My son and I were flying together a couple of weekends ago. He with a 4channel trainer and
I with my Biplane version of the Beeker.

A migrating Buzzard suddenly came into our area and we thought we'd chase it around a bit.

My son managed to pull more "G"'s that he'd ever done before and OUT POPPED the Pak.
The trainer did what it's supposed to do. It settled into a flat glide and then
flew AWAY ! yikes.

The local fields are now FULL of Soy and some of Indiana's Talest Corn 8-9' high !

This AM I managed a nice calm Glider flight with a Mobius DVR attached over the area to my South.

I saw a "spec" about where I figured the plane might be drove to the Soy Field edge for a nice walk.
It was ~ 1100' away but only about 30 yds from a serious stand of Corn.

I was lucky and walked the sprayer tracks to
within 20' of where the model was resting.
It appears to be perfectly intact and ready for flight.

It's location was less than 1500' from it's loss point. My glider flight almost over flew it as my estimate was farther out than actual.

From my reckoning:
Mobius 1
Soy beans 0 :-)

And a lesson learned about
model plane performance.

It's great to find lost planes. Like a gift.

I have used my one sheet wing (OSW) with a cheaper version of the mobius to spot them in our forest.

Pretty basic technology considering what fvp pilots have, but pretty advanced to what was available but a few short years back.

It was fun to retrieve it while wondering around in some strange 40 acre field.

Now don't forget to send that new address, eh ? ! :>}

Congrats! Reminds me of the six weeks my quicksilver spent in a beanfield. (Four ft tall, 7" rows). Walked it several times, overflew, no joy. Had to wait for leaves to fall to get an image. But other than puffed lipo, she was fine.

It sure does feel good when ya find them!

I've spent some time in tall corn looking for airplanes. Even the bigger glow planes were sometimes hard to find. You had to look up and at the ground, as they sometimes stayed at the top of the stalks.
