Adding external BEC?

I just completed my gws cargotrans and modified using four 10g brushless motors and four turnigy plush 10amp escs from hk:

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...nner_10g_.html

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ontroller.html

Completing the set up includes 4 9g servos and 2 5g servos and a 2s 1300 mah pack. Control is provided by a 8 channel Frsky rx.

With this set up, do I need to add an external bec?

Appreciate your response.

The BEC in each ESC is only 2A, and linear, which may be a bit light to power all those servos. To add an external BEC, you would have to disable the BEC in each ESC and connect the external BEC to the receiver, but, since you will have four 2A BECs, you could split the power from them, so each would power some servos, and one the receiver independently. You would have to make a harness that routes the throttle signal and ground to all for ESCs, but isolate the center +5V leads, routing one to the rx and some servos, another to power other servos, which have their +5V leads isolated from the rx. It would take a bit of wiring, but would save another component. Weight-wise, it would probably be a wash

I plan to make a short distribution cord for the rx side of the esc with the red wire disabled. Hope this works.

Thanks.

The simplest method to provide ample power for all of your servos is just to run an external BEC. Remove the red wire from each of the ESC's receiver leads, then solder in an additional lead for the BEC on the main battery connector- plug your BEC in here and then plug the BEC's receiver out lead into your receive.r Any 10 amp BEC will be plenty of power, such as the Castle Creations 10 amp BEC.
