Question
VMAR J3 Piper Cub vs L 19 Bird Dog USAF

Greetings Everyone,

I was planning to purchase an elctric balsa trainer from LHS(to avoid shipping.)
They are the VMAR J3 Piper Cub and VMAR L 19 Bird Dog USAF

The links are given below. They both cost the same (60 USD.) Which one do you recommend?

http://www.rcdhamaka.com/index.php?m...roducts_id=372

http://www.rcdhamaka.com/index.php?m...roducts_id=371

I want the plane to be slightly aerobatic.

Thanks,
Vinay.

Vinay;

I've had the Vmar L-19 BirdDog for a couple of years now and it flies very well. I think that it would make a good aileron trainer.

Regards,
Grog

I too had the Bird Dog. Powered with an E-Flite 450. It flew very scale however on occasion I found myself wishing I had more punch. Rolls and loops are not very axial but hey, its not an aerobatic plane. Set your aileron servos for maximum travel because they are rather narrow. Make sure you set your thrust angle correctly and you'll be fine. With a slight headwind you can almost cut the throttle at 200' out and it glides in perfectly. Wish I still had it!
