Any Custom Computer Builders, modders? (Hobbyists)

If you are or are not a builder, check out Rate My PC. Either show it off or take some notes.

When excellent PC games come out or the newest software program that demand high performance, builders are nearly forced to upgrade or start again. Much like our RC hobby, modding and building is quite fun.

This is something I have been gaining interest with. I soon may have to sacrifice one maybe two R/C builds for my first computer build. The one thing that holds me back is I don't quite have the need for a super powerful computer.

What did you build your computer for or to handle?

I edit graphics, create 3D models, edit video, host virtual machines, transcode media, simulate database operations, and compile/decompile code, but the most taxing is the goat p0rn.

I am just kidding about the goat pr0n - it's weasel pr0n. Just kidding.

If you ever need any PC/Mac help (or you just want to bounce some ideas around), please feel free to ask.

Did you build a comp to handle the tasks you do? What's in it?

I built my computer for gaming mainly fps and rpgs. I still do lan parties with friends which is why I chose a case with a large sturdy handle on top.
Intel I7 920
4gb ram
4tb hard drive space
ati 5770
dvd drive
windows 7 64bit.

It handles every game I throw at it on high settings.

Many believe if gaming graphics is not set on the highest setting, it's not good enough.

Very true. I am one of those types. Although I have to say the graphic cards are way down in price compared to 10 years ago. You can pick up a decent card that handles most games on high for under $150.
