Maybe a guy in a Smokey Bear Hat will urge you to stop driving 90 MPH in a 50 MPH zone.

Just think for a moment how many cartoon themes targeting kids are used by or funded by the government.

Smokey The Bear.
Big Bird.
Lets see how many you can add to this list.....

Who buys the food?....Kids?!

Parents need to remember who they are, and what their role is.
Advertisements aimed at children, should have little impact on what parents buy for their children.

What cracks me up about cereal is they sell you a product that has a bout twenty cents worth of grain in it, spend more than that on advertising, probably on packaging too, and buying the shelf space in the grocery store, then on the ads, many of them say, part of this well balanced breakfast and there is a glass of milk and a glass of orange juice sitting there. What does the cereal add besides sugar, added vitamins the government forced them to include and carbs, great if you have to run all the way to school, but the well balanced meal of milk and OJ would be as well balanced without the cereal. Eating an orange is better for you than drinking the juice.

The thing is, we see how different companies react to the market. General mills went all whole grain. Purina Chex went gluten free on I think all but one of their cereals, and Kellogs board voted to embrace GMO corn. Post bought Shredded wheat, which has always been whole grain, used to be owned by nabisco. And they have that Nut'n honey, there must be 15 varieties of it, and it takes up a huge area in the grocery store, even have whole grain version, so it must be a big seller. I know it was one cereal my ex and my son as a toddler both liked, so it probably benefits from that broad appeal.

Meanwhile better ingredient "health food" brands are competitively priced, like Kashi. It too has sugar in it but a better sugar than white sugar and also choices of things like flax seed.

I keep some cereal around mostly whole grain, as it is a good dessert food. and I only buy it if it is buy one get one free, or on sale and I have a coupon.

For breakfast I usually have a boiled egg and an orange, or an apple. I have never been a big breakfast person, although I love having bacon and eggs and grits and biscuits for dinner. Thing is that is messy and takes a lot of preparation, meaning it uses at least a bowl to mix the biscuits, a frying pan for the eggs and bacon and a pot for the grits. Not worth it for one person. So usually just have a couple fried eggs, some cheddar cheese and toast. One pan.

What is really good for you and cheap? Oatmeal

They would rather do this then fix their own mistakes, and ours for putting and leaving them there.

Maybe it would be better if the government ran all the food stores so they can be sure we are not eating anything they don't approve of. They already own the major car companies and banks, just makes sense.
